Who doesn't love seeing dogs enjoying their toys?

The dogs at The Lost Dogs' home love their toys and treats just as much as your canine companions at home. Emotional support plush toys, tennis balls, tug ropes, indestructible chew toys (which sounds like a challenge to most dogs).. You name it, they love it!

If you're stuffing your dog's Christmas stocking this year, please consider adding in an extra toy or two for the dogs at The Lost Dogs' Home who won't be spending Christmas in their forever home.

Many of The LDH staff will be working hard every single day over the Christmas break to make sure each and every dog and cat feels loved and cared for. They would love to have some extra little gifts to give our pups big and small.

In the spirit of Christmas and giving, we are selling festive pop-out baubles at our shelters and The Lost Dogs' Home Vet Hospital. Each set features two baubles - Pop one out and write a lovely message for the animals in our care, and keep one to hang on your Christmas tree at home. They're selling for $2, $5, $10 or an amount of your choosing until 31/12/2025.

“He showed up one morning demanding chicken and pats”.

One morning while opening “Reynold’s Street Cafe”, Robyn heard a meow coming from right outside the door, before long ‘Reynold’ strolled in and made himself at home. Robyn brought Reynold to us at the Home and with no microchip and no one coming forward for him, Robyn decided to adopt him.

Reynold has brought so much joy to Robyn’s life and the pair are now inseperable.

Today is Reynold’s birthday and we wish him all the pats and chicken in the world!

EXCITING UPDATE!! Moto Moto has been adopted. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and thought.

101 days is how long Moto Moto has been in our care. Even after all this time, he is still waiting for someone to come along and adopt him. In those 101 days, Moto has generated quite a large fanbase at The Lost Dogs’ Home shelter in Cranbourne.

This fanbase, or his ‘hype team’, want him to find a loving home ASAP. Every time a potential adopter arranges a meet and greet with Moto, his hype team show up to support him. So far, none of these have led to him finding a new home.

Moto’s hype team want to spread the message that even though he may have a tough exterior, once he warms up to you, Moto is a wonderful companion and a loyal friend.

Sometimes, potential adopters are deterred by the fact that Moto Moto is not overly affectionate when you first meet him, but we promise this is only temporary. Moto may require a few visits to get to know you properly, and then he will be your best friend for life.

If you have the heart and the patience to get to know this big, lovable boy, come in and meet Moto Moto today so he can be home for Christmas!
If you want to help out Moto Moto and join his hype team, please like, share and comment, so we can spread the word and find him his new home!

Calling all cat lovers!

Do you have a cat or kitten shaped space in your home and your heart this summer holiday period?

We are in the depths of kitten season and we have more felines than foster carers. We are urgently searching for new foster carers who can take on single kittens, litters of kittens, queens with their litters OR adult cats. In fact - any flavour of cat or kitten you would like to look after is possible at the moment since we have so many!

Providing these adorable adults and babies with a loving home while they grow or await desexing is an incredibly rewarding experience! Fostering helps the shelter immensely, and gives these animals a safe, comfortable space where they can relax and grow in peace.

If you are interested in fostering with us, please head to the link in our bio and go to 'Become a foster carer'. The process is done totally online, no need to call or email us, and our team will be in touch with you via email ASAP to set you up with one of our MANY cats and/or kittens.

UPDATE: Honey has been adopted!
Honey has been available for adoption for over 30 days now, watching on patiently as other cats and kittens come and go.

Poor Honey was surrendered due to no fault of her own, and has been struggling without the love of a family and a safe home.

She is often overlooked, because she prefers to stay in her bed, but Honey is desperately searching for a new home and someone to love her.

Honey is a sweet girl who loves cuddles, scratches on her cheeks, and cosy naps with friends. As an older lady, Honey isn't looking for an exciting lifestyle full of adventure. She would prefer a sunny spot on the couch and a good book.

It is apparent that Honey has a few extra grams of weight that she needs to shed, so she will need a home with people that take her weight loss journey seriously. With some creative thinking, you'll be able to find lots of healthy treats for Honey to enjoy!

If you have space in your heart and home for a chunky girl with a gentle nature, read more about her on our website, or come into our North Melbourne shelter to meet her in person.

December 2nd is National Mutt Day! Yay!

While every day of the year is a great day to celebrate our canine companions, today is the perfect excuse for us to shine a spotlight on our mixed-breed dogs, because almost every dog we get through our gates is a mixed-breed dog.

Mixed-breed dogs, like the beautiful Great Dane mix Florance, come in all shapes and sizes and make wonderful companions. They are all beautifully unique, and have the potential to adapt to a variety of lifestyles.

Florance has been available for adoption for 50 days and is still looking for a new home. This is a surprise to everyone who knows her. She is the incredible combination of a big goofball and a sweet, gentle cuddle bug. If this is the kind of perfect mix you are looking for, you can visit her at our North Melbourne Shelter.

For more information about Florance, or any of our mixed-breed dogs that are available for adoption, please go to the link in our bio.

Listen to that happy purring - there is no better sound! Except the cry of ‘yes let me be a foster carer!

It’s kitten season! We have lots of kittens and mumma cats with kittens, who need foster care while they wait to grow big enough to find homes of their own. If you have a safe space for some kittens please consider becoming a foster carer. Kittens with their mummas (queens) are surprisingly low maintenance foster pets as the mum does most of the work! If you have space in your heart and home for a little foster family head to our link tree and follow the tab to find out more about fostering. If you can’t foster you can STILL help….if you like, follow and share our post you will help us reach even more people who can help us rescue the cats, kittens, dogs and puppies of Melbourne. Thank you!

Four years ago Smiley found her forever home.

“She is genuinely the best dog ever, she is so loveable, energetic, and affectionate. She’s taught me so much about resilience and about learning to get through tough times,” her new mum Liv tells us.

Smiley is living her best life with her new family, she’s running around, playing, napping and eating treats all the time - what more could a dog ask for?

“She is living the absolute bestest life right now.”

We have so many dogs hoping to find their forever homes, visit our website to see their full profiles.
