15 year old Reginald was found as a stray, he was scared and all alone, but with some time, patience and love it wasn’t long before Reggie knew he was safe with us.

While he’s been getting ready for his forever home, Reggie has spent his time living in a foster home, his foster mum Hannah tells us “Reggie’s favourite place to be is your lap, followed only by a nice patch of sun. His hobbies include people watching, napping, rolling around on the rug and eating.”

“He loves treats and can be taught - Reggie knows, ‘treat’, ‘Reggie’, ‘couch’ (for snuggle time) and ‘out of there’. Hannah says.

We’re hoping to find this special boy his perfect retirement home full of treats, pats and unconditional love.

If Reginald sounds like the gentleman for you please visit our North Melbourne shelter today.

Ziggy has spent half of his life in our care.

178 days ago he was found as a stray, all alone and scared, he was taken to the Home where he has slowly been learning that the world isn’t such a scary place.

Ziggy is a big goofball, he’s still got lots of puppy energy and absolutely adores cuddle time with his favourite humans. Ziggy is a smart boy who knows “sit”, “wait”, “shake” and “down” and would love to continue learning new tricks with you (as long as lots of treats are provided).

If you’re looking for a boy who doesn’t know what personal space is and is gentle and smoochy with everyone he meets, look no further than Ziggy.

Ziggy is currently in our Adoption Ambassador Program so any enquiries will need to go through [email protected] or directly through pet rescue via the link below.

He can’t wait to meet you.

Every single day, more than 40 lost and abandoned pets arrive at our shelter—cold, frightened, and in desperate need of help. This winter alone, we expect over 4,000 cats and dogs to come through our doors.

Some are injured and need urgent medical attention. Others arrive so weak they can barely stand. All of them need warmth, safety, and the chance to heal.

And they’re depending on people like you.

The Lost Dogs’ Home receives no ongoing government funding. It’s the kindness of animal lovers like you that makes so much of our work possible—every treatment, every bowl of food, every warm, safe place to rest.

Please make a life-saving gift today to help care for the ones who have no one else.

Last year we put a callout for a foster carer to take care of a mumma dog and her puppies and we were overwhelmed with support. All of her puppies found their forever homes but sadly Daffy is still waiting.

At just nine months old Daffy found herself in our care, she was scared, shut down and she was pregnant. Daffy has spent some time with our behaviour team to build up her confidence, she’s slowly learnt that the world isn’t as scary as she once thought. Daffy can be a little shy when meeting new people but once she warms up you’ll see a smoochy, sweet girl who will be your best friend forever.

She loves her toys and still has lots of energy, she’ll never say no to a treat either.

Daffy is currently in our Adoption Ambassador Program which means she’s living in her foster home until she finds her forever home. If you think Daffy is the perfect girl for you, please apply via the link below or contact [email protected]

Over the weekend, Jazz visited our Cranbourne shelter and fell in love with 11 year old Joy.

Jazz tells us that Joy is settling in beautifully, "she's a big couch potato, she has so much life in her."

It was easy to see Joy was meant to be part of this family, her new fur brother Freddy has even welcomed her into the home and they love going on adventures outside together.

"She really is such a joy and I wish more people would consider older dogs so they have comfort and love."

We're so happy for Joy and her new family and wish them the best.

We still have so many animals looking for their forever homes, so if you've been thinking of adopting please head into our shelters anytime during opening hours.

After 169 days in our care Brando has been adopted! 🧡🐶

Brando found himself at The Home in December after his family were no longer able to take care of him.

Brando stole the hearts of everyone here at the shelter and we couldn't understand how no one had adopted this gentleman yet!

Yesterday we all said goodbye to Brando and wished him the best for the start of his new life.

We wish Brando and his new family all the best! 🐾🧡

Here’s a happy story for your Thursday morning. 🥰

15 year old Jasper was surrendered into our care in May through no fault of his own and it wasn’t long before Jenny and Barry visited our shelter and fell in love with him.

Jenny and Barry told us that Jasper “has fitted into our home near-seamlessly, he raced to the door and upon opening went in and quick as a flash laid on the bed he could see in the laundry.”

“We hope his stay with us will be a long one we can enjoy together,” Jenny and Barry tell us and to sum it up they reckon Jasper is a “Gold Standard dog.”

We’re so happy for Jasper and his new family and wish them the best life ever. 🧡
