Meet Fifi 🤍
We were asked to take Fifi from a pound for welfare reasons, so she wouldn’t have to sit and wait in a kennel environment. It was almost Christmas, we had no spare carers, but we knew we had to make space for her when we saw the video of her shaking in fear 💔
When we met Fifi, she was tired, deflated, and heartbreakingly shut down. You could see she had simply had enough. She arrived dirty, matted, and completely unkempt. Her history is unknown, but from what we can piece together, Fifi appears to be a severe cage biter. She chews wires instantly and could not be safely kept in a standard vet holding area. Her teeth are extremely worn down, far beyond what we’d expect for her suspected age of around 8 years, which sadly suggests she may have spent years chewing her way out of confinement. No one came forward for her not surprisingly.
We are incredibly grateful to Carrie and Vanessa from the Melbourne Japanese Spitz Group for donating Antinol and rosehip supplements to support Fifi’s joints. Combined with high-quality food, fish oil, and probiotics, we’ve been giving her the very best foundation for recovery.
Despite everything she has been through, Fifi showed us just how much love she still has to give. She spent Christmas indoors with a family and was absolutely elated, soaking up the comfort, warmth, and companionship. Even with her arthritis, she follows her foster mum around the house like a little shadow. She is so happy to be indoors and part of a family. 💕
Fifi chooses the biggest and fluffiest beds in the house and it's beautiful to watch her feel comfortable and blossom a little more every day.
She came down with seveare kennel cough, which took some time for her to recover from. She was exhausted both physically and emotionally. While she still sought affection, it was clear she had lost her spark and was worn down by life. She requires extensive dental surgery, including multiple extractions for teeth that are sadly rotting. But we already know her glow up is going to be incredible, and we can’t wait to see her truly thrive. If you’re able to help support Fifi on her journey, we would be so grateful.
