One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that puppy socialisation means taking puppies everywhere and exposing them to as much as possible, but only after they are fully vaccinated...

In reality, good socialisation is about creating positive experiences at the puppy's pace in a safe way well before they have been fully vaccinated.

For Winnie, that meant happily accepting cheese while watching the world go by. 🧀

For Frankie, it meant taking things a little slower and simply observing her surroundings. 🌎

I opened the door to find one puppy busy excavating a brand new hole in the garden...

When I asked her what she was doing, she immediately stopped, ran over, and acted as though she had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Unfortunately for her, the muddy paws told a different story. 😂🐾

Some of my favourite childhood memories involve wandering through forests with my family looking for mushrooms.

Now I get to do it with a dachshund trotting beside us.

Not much has changed really, except now I get to take my children with me 🥰🐾

This was their first time trying a simple enrichment game, and watching the little gears turn was adorable 🥹

At just 6 weeks old, he's already figured out how to escape his puppy pen 😅

What makes this even funnier is that his sister managed the exact same jailbreak earlier... she just had the good sense not to do it while I was filming.

I suppose this is my reminder that puppies are constantly learning, observing and problem-solving. And sometimes it shows up in finding weaknesses in your containment system 😂

At 6 weeks old, this puppy has already learned three important life skills:
✔ Digging holes he definitely shouldn't be digging.
✔ Running away when he's caught.
✔ Hiding where everyone can still see him. 😂
