Congratulations Rosie!

Rosie visited us at McLaren Vale Veterinary Surgery on Friday, as her owner had some concerns during the early stages of whelping. This was Rosie's first litter and on xrays we could see that Rosie was pregnant with 2 large puppies. With a bit of guidance, support and monitoring, Rosie was able to head home… and later that night, she safely delivered two beautiful, healthy puppies.

Whelping can be an exciting time, but it can also be stressful and unpredictable. Knowing when things are progressing normally and when to seek help can make all the difference for both mum and her puppies. We’re so proud of Rosie and grateful we could support her and her family through this special moment.

If you’re expecting a litter or have any concerns during your dog’s pregnancy or whelping, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help every step of the way.

🐾✨ Today we celebrate International Guide Dog Day ✨🐾

A day to recognise the incredible guide dogs who provide independence, confidence, and companionship to people with vision impairment. These highly trained dogs are more than just pets — they are life-changing partners, helping their handlers navigate the world safely every day.

From early puppy training through to their working life, guide dogs show remarkable intelligence, patience, and dedication. 💛

If you see a guide dog in public, remember they’re on the job — give them space and avoid distractions so they can focus on keeping their handler safe.

Let’s take a moment today to appreciate these amazing dogs and the organisations, trainers, and volunteers who make it all possible. 🐕‍🦺

As you enjoy the long weekend, don’t forget to keep all chocolate treats well out of reach of your pets. Chocolate and raisins are toxic to dogs and cats, and even small amounts can cause serious illness.
We’ll be back open on Tuesday morning, ready to care for your furry family members. If your pet needs a consult, remember you can book online anytime 💻🐶🐱
Stay safe, enjoy the celebrations, and give your pets an extra cuddle from us!
