Northern suburbs - Masters vehicles

Indoor vehicles meant an offlead search was given which was so much fun to judge and hopefully participate in!

16 passes / 31 entered

Unknown hides ( I had 2)

Both elevated and 1 was also inaccessible!

Video shows what odour was doing with the fog machine and I think dogs worked brilliantly for the complexity of this search!

Distractors - 3

Chicken feathers

Tug toy

Coffee wood dog chew

We had a few false alerts too far from the inaccessible hide and unfortunately I just couldn’t accept that area as no odour was blowing there. Dogs were simply picking an item they could see and alert on.

We also had a couple people just time out with a tight time of 4 minutes for 4 vehicles.

I think every competitor did an amazing job in this search! Well done all!

Border collie excellent exteriors and excellent vehicles Debriefs and Smoke demo!!

Exteriors - “they wouldn’t be on all the stuff”

Was the catch phrase of the day! When dogs found 1 hide on the things and then handlers continued to search the garage doors and walls forever lol!

I had 3 hides on things and dogs allowed to work the space found this pretty easily. But handlers got a bit into their heads in this one

Vehicles - I had 2 easy hides but 1 very tricky inaccessible and this was probably the most missed hide. We also had a bit of converging odour problems

CONVERGING ODOUR + TRICKY ODOUR POOLS WORKSHOP

After running a poll on what topics you wanted next, converging odour + tricky pools came out on top by a mile

So we’re running it.

This is a full day digging into the stuff that makes scent work messy in the best possible way converging odour, tricky pools, and all those searches where you’re standing there going “ok… what is my dog actually doing right now?”

We’re going to break down those confusing search pictures and make them feel a whole lot less random, so you can start actually seeing what’s going on instead of just guessing.

💡 All the nerdy scent work stuff

This is for teams already working odour who want more clarity in the tough searches! Close together hides, hides blowing on distractors, all the scary messy things!

We’ll look at how to support your dog without overhelping, how to read what they’re telling you, and how to stop getting pulled into the “I think it’s here… maybe there… actually wait” spiral.
