🐾 Ziggy! 🐶

Meet beautiful Ziggy, who recently visited Canberra Vet Hospital for a cystotomy procedure to remove bladder stones (uroliths).

Ziggy initially presented to us as her owners noticed she was straining to urinate and only producing small blood tinged urine.
We were able to confirm stones as the cause through ultrasounds and X-ray imaging and booked Ziggy in for her surgery.

Ziggy was such a brave girl during her stay in hospital and we wish her all the luck with her recovery at home ❤️

A glimpse into today’s hospital patients! 🩺

Today we had a dog recovering from a snake bite, a dog on supportive care after having a paralysis tick attached, a dog with chocolate toxicity, a dog with ibuprofen toxicity, a cat with a potential blocked bladder and our routine procedures; 2 dental scale and polishes and 2 oral surgeries! 🐾

The team have been very busy lately and we appreciate your understanding when we do have longer than usual wait times!

🐾💚 Happy Veterinary Nurse Day! 💚🐾

Today we’re celebrating the amazing, weird and wonderful bunch of veterinary nurses at CVH who go above and beyond every single day to care for our patients and support their families. 🐶🐱

From cuddles and comfort to monitoring anaesthetics, assisting in surgery, caring for hospital patients and keeping everything running behind the scenes, our nurses are an essential part of what we do!

Their compassion, dedication, knowledge and love for animals make such a difference to every patient that walks through our doors. 🩺🐾

A huge thank you to our wonderful nursing team at Canberra Vet Hospital for everything you do. We’re so lucky to have you! 💚

🐾 Volk’s Road to Recovery! 🐾

Meet Volk, a brave 9-month-old who recently presented with a fracture injury to his hind leg. 💔

After assessing his injury, Dr Clara performed a fracture repair surgery, carefully placing a plate to stabilise his leg and give him the best chance of getting back on all four paws. 🦴🔩

Dr Clara saw Volk for his recheck today, and we are happy to report he is on the road to recovery, already much happier and using his leg again! ❤️

A big well done to Dr Clara and our veterinary team for taking such great care of Volk! 👏

Our team recently took part in emergency CPR training for animals, refreshing our skills and practising how to respond quickly and confidently in a critical situation.

From recognising an emergency to performing CPR and working together as a team, regular training helps ensure we’re prepared to provide the best possible care when every second counts. 🩺🐶🐱
