Junior Groomer Reporting for Duty – August 2025

It’s been a while since I’ve shared an update, but this one is extra special, and I’m so happy to finally let you all in on it.

Let’s rewind to March 2024—before the floods, before all the chaos—back to a regular Saturday at the salon. I was grooming my last dog of the day when, out of nowhere, I was hit with pain like I’d never felt before. I pushed through, determined to finish, but my book club plans quickly turned into a detour to emergency. That night, I found out my ovaries were covered in cysts, and one had burst.

Fast forward to June, I had surgery, and with it came news that no 28-year-old expects to hear. It was heartbreaking, and suddenly, a future I’d always dreamed of felt uncertain. But we weren’t ready to give up. With the help of an incredible fertility team, we started our journey—and in November, our world changed with two tiny pink lines.

Then, just as we were settling into the excitement, the salon flooded. We were still so early in the pregnancy, and the stress of it all wasn’t exactly what we’d hoped for. But in a strange way, the delay in rebuilding gave us time to focus on making it through those first tough months (and wow, were they tough—morning sickness and I became very well acquainted!).

Now, here we are—halfway through this wild, wonderful journey. The salon is still in limbo, with work not set to start until at least June. With all the changes and planning, it’s going to take time to get everything just right, which brings us to… August.

The same month our little one is due.

If all goes to plan, we’re hoping to be back in the salon mid-January 2026. And when we do, Quinn and I won’t be the only ones pampering your pooches—our newest (and tiniest) team member will be right there with us.

This hasn’t been an easy road, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to share this news with you all. But we needed to put our little bean (and ourselves) first. Now, we finally feel ready to celebrate this with you—the people who have supported us like family.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your patience, your kindness, and for being part of this journey with us. We can’t wait to introduce you to the newest member of our pack.

To our valued clients,

It is with heavy hearts that we share some unfortunate news. Our salon has suffered significant flooding damage, forcing us to temporarily close our doors while we work with insurance and repairs. This is not the start to 2025 we envisioned, and we are truly sorry for the disruption this will cause to your grooming schedules.

At this stage, we must cancel all appointments until March. We understand how inconvenient this is and deeply appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this challenging time.

In the meantime, we encourage you to reach out to other local groomers for your pet’s needs. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way and will announce our reopening here on social media as soon as we have a clear timeline.

Thank you for your support and for being such an integral part of our salon family. We look forward to welcoming you back with open arms and wagging tails soon.

I am absolutely devastated to say our salon is being forced to close.

The damage is to far gone and the risk with mold is too high.

Our little salon has been gutted and our equipment will need to be assessed.

I am so incredibly sorry for the inconvenience this is causing. 74 dogs now need appointments before Christmas.

**IMPORTANT WEATHER POLICY**

With the crazy weather we've been having and the continued rain predicted I just want to remind you all, if you don't feel safe to drive, please don't.

When it comes to wet, dangerous weather I don't enforce our late cancellation fee.
All you need to do is send a text with notice (not after your appointment) saying that you're not comfortable.
You'll then just rebook online for next year.

If you're still coming, amazing. However. You need to allow for delays in traffic. Unfortunately we can't run behind and your appointment will be cancelled if you're more than 10min late.
Give yourself plenty of time to arrive and still toilet your pets before entering.

Please be safe out there. It's just a haircut ❤️

**2025 Bookings Are Open!**

Next year brings some changes to my little business. With Grandma needing more care, I’ve decided to focus on *regular, repeat bookings* to better support my clients and their pets.

This new approach highlights the importance of consistent grooming while working with owners who value maintaining their pets’ coats and overall wellbeing.

New clients are always welcome—our doors remain open! I'll always educate and promote the importance of a safe space for your pets ❤️

Our passion for big dogs, especially double-coated breeds, is stronger than ever, and we’ll continue providing one-on-one grooming in a calm, safe environment for anxious dogs.

Bookings will now open 3 months in advance, giving you plenty of time to secure a regular spot without the stress of booking too far ahead.

We’ve also updated the website to help you choose the perfect service for your pet, including new budget-friendly options for simple, low-maintenance trims. You'll notice new names, some price and weight adjustments and some new descriptions to assist you in the online booking process.

Christmas is my favourite time of year. I recognise that I'm in an incredibly privileged position and this year I want to give back.

Christmas Is Just Around the Corner… ❄️

Please take a moment to read this post as we prepare for the busiest time of the year! (Give it a "like" or comment for bonus points)

In the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas, we groom almost our entire client list – around 150 dogs – with just Quinn and myself. To help our days run smoothly, we kindly ask you to follow these steps:

🎄Arrive 5 minutes before your appointment.
Please toilet your pet on a lead before entering reception at your designated appointment time. If you’re more than 5 minutes early, we kindly ask you to wait patiently outside to keep reception clear.

🎄Toileting is essential.
Cleaning up accidents takes time away from grooming and disrupts our schedule. A quick toilet trip before your appointment makes a huge difference!

🎄Read your reminder messages.
We send these 2 days before your appointment with all the key information you’ll need. Please take a moment to check them.

🎄Be patient with responses.
Messages about availability may be delayed during this busy period. Our online booking system is your best friend! If you can’t find what you need, feel free to reach out – but expect a little delay.

Finally, please give us grace as we work tirelessly to make sure every pet is fresh and fabulous for Santa. We’ll be running on coffee, chocolate, and sheer determination!

Despite the chaos, I love the energy of this season and can’t wait to see you and your fur babies before our Christmas break.

Welcome to Ash's Safari!

The grand reveal from Brisbane Groomathon 2024!

Creative grooming is my passion. To be able to present my work to world famous Gabriel Feitosa was a career highlight.

Ed and I competed in Master Level, and while we didn't walk away with a frilly, we received an honorary mention from the man himself.

This groom was really a team effort. Whilst I was the person behind everything grooming, Quinn, his mum, and my friends all played huge roles in bringing this to life.
From the canva vision board, to the Ash's Jeep to the cheer squad, heck even down to the custom earrings, everyone of my support team showed up and I couldn't have done it without them.

More meltdowns and tears than I can count.

After starting the cleanup at grandma's today, I've realised the task ahead of me can't be done in just two days.

Unfortunately I'm being that person, and I'm going to take the rest of the week off (monday-friday) to help mum with the necessary arrangements.
