Meet Chi! 😺
Chi is 19 years old and came to us recently with a painful wound and a very sore leg.
We took an x-ray and quickly realised her front right leg was broken. 🦴
Due to the nature of the break and Chi's age, it was decided that amputation was the best option for her.
Chi is healing well and is happy recovering at home! 😻

🦷 Is Your Dog Showing These Signs? 🐶
🔹 Bad breath
🔹 Drooling or excessive saliva
🔹 Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
🔹 Tartar buildup on teeth
🔹 Pawing at the mouth or face
🔹 Reluctance to eat, chew toys, or eat hard food
🔹 Dropping food while eating
🔹 Loose or missing teeth
🔹 Facial swelling (can indicate an abscess)
🔹 Weight loss
🔹 Behaviour changes (irritability or quietness due to pain)

Dental disease in dogs can progress silently, so even if there are no obvious signs, regular dental checks are important.

Renovations Update 😺
As some of our clients know we have recently had a few changes within the clinic which has made a big difference and has brightened the place up!

The colour scheme we have chosen is to make the clinic more calming for pets and their owners. 💚

We have also added another consulting room as well as extra waiting space. 🪑

Returning Salty to his home 🦭 The AWL do such a hard but heartwarming job 💙

🌊 Returning Salty the Sea Lion Home 🌊

Many of you may have heard about the heartbreaking incident involving Salty, the beloved sea lion who tragically lost his life on Adelaide's North-South Motorway. After this unexpected loss, Animal Welfare League was honoured to have been entrusted with Salty’s aftercare.

Our dedicated After Care team ensured Salty received a dignified and respectful farewell, placing him gently into a beautiful salt urn. In a heartfelt collaboration, Port River Cruises generously donated their time and resources to help our team fulfill a final promise: returning Salty to his ocean home.

Together, we journeyed out onto the sea, saying a quiet goodbye as we released Salty back into the waters he loved so dearly.

We extend our sincere thanks to Port River Cruises and our compassionate After Care team, whose kindness and generosity made this farewell possible. Moments like these remind us of the deep connection we all share with wildlife and the community.
