KENNEL COUGH OUTBREAK

As some may be aware, a kennel cough outbreak is currently spreading rapidly throughout the community.

Some common symptoms & signs of kennel cough include:

🐾 A dry, hacking cough
🐾 Gagging or retching after coughing
🐾 Runny nose and/or sneezing
🐾 Lethargy
🐾 Loss of appetite

If you believe your dog has the symptoms for kennel cough, please keep your pet/s isolated at home until symptoms subside (typically a minimum of 14 days). If your pet/s are seniors, puppies, immune compromised or are experiencing the below, please contact your local vet immediately.

🐶 Having difficultly breathing
🐶 Stops eating and/or drinking
🐶 Very lethargic
🐶 Has green/yellow nasal discharge
🐶 Unable to sleep due to coughing

We urge you to ensure your pets are up-to date with their vaccinations and to avoid highly dog-populated areas during this time.

Meet the heroic Molly ❤️
Molly is one of our very special blood donors who recently came in to help Tilla, a very unwell Kelpie who had eaten some rat bait. Thanks to Molly’s generous donation, Tilla is now on the road to recovery!

We’re currently seeking more wonderful dogs like Molly to join our canine blood donor list. If your furry friend meets the criteria below and you’re happy to be contacted at short notice, we’d love to hear from you!
Donor Requirements:
* Over 25kg
* Aged 1–7 years
* Up to date with vaccinations and heartworm prevention
* No existing health concerns
* Calm, well-behaved, and comfortable spending the day at the vet

Only 12 more sleeps until Santa Paws arrives! 🎅🏻

Here are some tips to keep in mind to ensure the safest Christmas & New Year for our furry-friends:

🍪 Ensuring toxic treats are out of reach.
This includes; chocolate, grapes/raisin, onion, garlic, macadamia nuts, christmas pudding, fruit cake, etc.

🦴 Whilst bones can be a good stocking filler for your dog, they can cause a host of problems. Ranging from gastrointestinal issues, splinters, blockages and more! Please visit your local vet clinic or pet store to pick up alternative snacks instead.

🎄 Making sure decorations are inaccessible to your pet.
Christmas lights, tinsel, ornaments and holiday plants such as mistletoe, poinsettia and holly’s are all toxic to pets if ingested.

🎉 Fireworks & parties! Loud noises often cause anxiety for our beloved pets. Please ensure your pet has a quiet place to retreat to if needed.

If your pet suffers from anxiety, please contact us on (08) 8249 9999 to have their medication refilled or to make an appointment.

PSA: PARKING DUE TO SEMAPHORE STREET FAIR 🎡

The Semaphore Street Fair is on this Sunday the 24th of November between 10:00am - 5:00pm along Semaphore Road.

Please note: Semaphore Road will be closed for parking to traffic from 6:30am - 6:30pm.

We are STILL OPEN for emergencies between 10:00am - 12:00pm as usual, although our carpark and front of clinic parking will NOT be accessible for parking.

If you need to visit our clinic, please park in the surrounding streets and walk to us.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding.

Please see our impawtant tips on how to keep your furry-friend safe during the spooky season:

🐾 Toxic Treats, No Tricks!
Please ensure all confectionary & decor is out of reach from your pet/s. If any goods are consumed, please contact your nearest vet for advice/treatment.

🐾 Bark-tastic Costumes!
If you’re dressing up your pet, please make sure the costume is comfortable and does not restrict movement. Avoid items that can be chewed or swallowed.

🐾 The Magic of Microchips!
With doorbell ringing and excitement, pets can escape. Please ensure they have their collar with an ID tag on and their microchip details are up to date.

If your pet is feeling a little left out this Howl-O-Ween, please visit our candy bar for their very own pet-safe, spook-tactular snacks!
