Meet Lumos, our oddball for the week - no pun intended!!
This beautiful boy presented for a rountine castration, but during our pre-surgery examination we noted that he only had one testicle. Cryptorchids, as these patients are commonly referred to, are cats where one or both te**es fail to descend into the sc***um and become retained in the abdomen or inguinal canal. Lumos' retained testicle was hidden in his abdomen. As can be seen from the images the retained teste is often much smaller in size and poorly developed.
Lumos was none the wiser following his procedure and up to his usual antics at home!

Our weekend team has been busy lately! On Saturday, Lovia presented to our clinic after stepping on a stonefish!
Stonefish are one if the most venomous fish species in the world and their sting can be fatal in extreme cases. Little is known about Stone fish envenomation in pets and it is relatively rare.
Dr. Leonora and the team acted quickly to stabilise Lovia. She was sedated to keep her calm while placing her paw in hot water in an attempt to neutralise the protein-based venom. She was placed on intravenous fluids and antibiotics and discharged later in the day.
She came in for a check-up today and we are happy to report that she is back to her usual, happy self!

🎆🎇🍾🥂🎆🎇
We would like to wish all our clients and their furred family members a prosperous new year! We are extremely grateful that the community has trusted Eumundi Vets with the care of their beloved pets for another year. As always, we will continue to deliver excellent, compassionate veterinary service in 2026!

As some of you may have noticed, during the silly season we have been working on a sneaky re-brand to better portray our ephasis on professional, gold standard small animal veterinary care. Our website has been updated and still allows for user friendly online booking, with a few newly added features.

Please note that we will be closed tomorrow 1st January, but will resume normal ours from Friday the 2nd!
We will also be open every Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 5pm.

Father and son duo, Banksy and Benny came in last week to visit us! How cute!
They both got a full check over, vaccinations and parasite preventatives.
Benny is one of the pups from our C-section post a few weeks ago. He has grown so much since then!

❗️Warning: Sensitive Content❗️

Pets always seem to find mischief at the most inconvenient times — which is why we’re now open on Saturdays and Sundays!

Bonnie was no exception! decided to get a little too involved with the chainsaw while her owners were cutting branches 😬

Even though she put on a brave face, Bonnie had a significant wound inside her mouth. We quickly prepared her for surgery that afternoon and were able to treat her injury.

We’re so glad we were here when you needed us, Bonnie ❤️🐾

👌Feelgood Friday!!👌

Lily the Ragdoll is a familiar little face at Eumundi Vets, for all the wrong reasons!

Two weeks ago she presented to us for a suspected foreign body obstruction after ingesting a long piece of elastic!

Lily's symptoms along with ultrasound imaging confirmed our suspicion for a linear foreign body - a scenario in which a long/linear object (usually a string) anchors in one part of the gastro-intestinal tract with the rest of the intestine then bunching up (plication) due to peristalsis.

Dr. Fiametta performed a gastrotomy and enterotomy to free the elastic from Lily's intestines. Lily has had all her rechecks and she's back to her normal self!

🤩 Eumundi Vets New Look 🤩

It’s hard to believe it has already been three years since Dr Steph and Dr Chris became the proud owners of Eumundi Vets—time has certainly flown! To celebrate this milestone, we’re excited to share that our clinic is getting a fresh new look. Our updated branding reflects our modern, compassionate approach to veterinary care and brings our own personal touch to the character of the clinic.

Rest assured, this update is purely cosmetic—you will continue to receive the same professional, personalised care from the same wonderful team you know and trust at Eumundi Vets.

What this means for you:
- All appointments, records, and ongoing treatments remain unchanged.
- Our phone number and location will stay the same.
- You may notice updated branding on emails, invoices, reminders, and in-clinic materials.

Be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages! We’ll soon be launching a fun competition with some great prizes to help introduce our new look.

✨ Gemma’s Wellness Visit! ✨

Little Gemma the Pomeranian popped in to see Dr Chris today for her health check, annual vaccinations, and a progesterone test.

At Eumundi Vets, our in-house laboratory machines can run on-the-spot progesterone levels for dogs. This is an incredibly useful tool when tracking oestrus (heat) cycles to perfectly time mating, as well as planning elective C-sections for our breeding patients.

😸 Dedicated Cat Space 😸

Archie the Ginger is feeling very relaxed in our new dedicated cat consult room! We know that bringing your cat to the vet can be stressful — for both you and your feline friend. At Eumundi Vets, our goal is to make every visit as calm and pleasant as possible through quiet spaces, gentle handling, and (if they’re interested!) plenty of yummy treats.

To help your cat feel at ease, we use a Feliway diffuser in the room and Feliway spray on our consult tables. And if your cat needs to stay with us for a little while, we have a dedicated cat ward filled with enrichment and creature comforts. Most importantly, we do our best to limit your cat’s contact with dogs and other unfamiliar pets, as this can increase stress.

If your cat is still anxious about visiting the clinic — or even just the car ride — speak to one of our friendly team members about calming medication options prior to your appointment.

If you have any questions about your cat’s visit, our lovely nursing team is always here to help! 😻
