🏇 Thoroughbred Training 🏇Yearling Breaking & Education 🏇Bloodstock Trade - by Ed O'Rourke. O'Rourke Racing | Always with Purpose

Born in Co, Wexford, Ireland, Edward grew up point-to-pointing with his family and breeding flat and jump horses on their family farm . He travelled to Australia on a working holiday visa and like so many others, fell in love with Australia and in particular, Australian racing. Working as a breaker for Tony McEvoy, foreperson for G*i Waterhouse, Assistant trainer to Michael Freedman & finally a trainer in his own right. Now with a growing stable of young and exciting horses at Hawkesbury, Ed is a young trainer with much more to come.

Vintage artworks for the stable kitchen. Slowly, slowly making the place feel like our own. All good thinking happens in the kitchen 🧠

Always With Purpose is the ethos we carry with every decision, and (if you didn’t know) originates as a nod to the mare, With Purpose. The story goes… she came to Ed as an impossible project. Knee issues which saw her retired to stud. However, she wouldn’t go into foal, so the owner brought her to Ed. Over many months he patiently trained this mare from broodmare status back to racehorse, nursing her through substantial issues, to successfully win 4 starts. She was testament to patience and dedication.

Eternal thanks to all the good people of Hawkesbury Race Club. Over the past 5 years there has been such generosity offered to us in moments of need. Genuine community can be found out here. We’re devastated be leaving, but who knows racingnsw might build us a stable so we can come home again…

Onwards we go…

Power Broker powered away from them today to break his maiden at home. Our final days at Hawkesbury drawing to a close make this a bitter sweet win.
Incredibly grateful to have this merry band of owners in tow.

Onwards and upwards lads 🍻
