Born in Co, Wexford, Ireland, Edward grew up point-to-pointing with his family and breeding flat and jump horses on their family farm . He travelled to Australia on a working holiday visa and like so many others, fell in love with Australia and in particular, Australian racing. Working as a breaker for Tony McEvoy, foreperson for G*i Waterhouse, Assistant trainer to Michael Freedman & finally a tr

ainer in his own right. Now with a growing stable of young and exciting horses at Hawkesbury, Ed is a young trainer with much more to come.

Behind the big sky mornings and the fleeting moments of success, life as a small training operation is tough.
So, I’ve decided to document the good with the bad, to remind us ‘why we do it’.

In 2026, the pressure is heavy everywhere you look. Not just for us, but for so many. I’ve been watching my husband grind away into exhaustion for years.
Recently, in a moment of desperation I pleaded with him to consider another path. To which he responded “I didn’t leave my family behind and travel halfway across the world to give up now Emmie”.
Our story isn’t unique or more worth telling than anyone else’s. But it’s ours, and telling it reminds me that this is bone deep in Ed. There never was another path ✨
