A huge congratulations to our farm clients, Anthony & Edward Cummings and of course the racehorse El Castello winning the Grp 1 Spring Champion Stakes. Fingers crossed from all us at Cavallo Park / Bella Jane Lodge El Castello can take out the Group 1 VRC Victorian Derby next week.

Young horse Sales/Breeding positions available!

Cavallo Park Stud is a young and exciting Thoroughbred breeding, spelling and pre-training farm located in the beautiful Hawkesbury Valley of NSW. Growing faster than even we could have anticipated, we presented our first sales drafts at this year’s Australian Weanling and HTBA sales. We were thrilled to come home with some of the best overall results on the sales complex. With further drafts in major sales upcoming, our breeding and young horse division is expanding rapidly. This is the perfect time for us to find multiple people who share our vision and philosophy as we forge ahead in the industry.
We are a seeking enthusiastic and experienced individuals to join our team for immediate start. Desirable attributes and skills for various roles available include but not limited to as follows:
• Extensive experience in educating & preparing young horses for sales to a very high standard.
• Practical and demonstrable knowledge of Thoroughbred breeding and raising, including foal conformation and early intervention work.
• Excellent horsemanship.
• Ability to assist and co-ordinate Farriers & Vets.
• Exceptional communication and organisational skills. Ability to take instructions & prepare basic reports.
• Ability to lead a small team of staff & work within a team environment.
• Assist with the daily care & routine of feeding, grooming, procedures & treatments.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years industry proven experience and knowledge of horse handling specific to the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry.
• Sound knowledge of Work Health Safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe work practices.
• Practical knowledge and experience with pre and postnatal care of broodmares and foals.
• Experience with foaling mares.
• Ability and willingness to work relief night-watch.
Extremely comfortable on-farm accommodation, internet (wifi) & utilities are part of the package we are able to offer to the right applicant/s, with excellent remuneration.
What we can offer that many other farms cannot, is the opportunity to utilise and expand your skillset to join us as we grow. Due to the multiple divisions on our farms, we are able to offer year round diversification outside of seasonal work.

Born upon the same turf her sire grazed, here at Lightsaber's home farm. Cavallo Park Stud tonight welcomes a filly, the very image of her father. Sporting his star, one extra sock and his famous tail, this stunning filly carries her grandsire's Zoustar genes strongly in her DNA.
We wonder, is "Aayla" the first Lightsaber foal born on Australia's Eastern Seaboard?

Foal No. 7 of the season arrived late yesterday afternoon. We welcome our new Chestnut Filly by the Merchant Navy. The sunset over the Hawkesbury provided a beautiful backdrop as mum and bubs bonded.
