With the new strain of the H5N1 virus MAAW Shelter will not be accepting any sick or injured birds.
If you find a bird that seems sick or injured, please call Wildlife Victoria at 03 8400 7300.
Try your best to avoid touching any sick birds as this disease is zoonotic (transferable to humans.)

H5N1 affects more animals than just birds, including your domestic pets. Cats especially are very high risk. As an animal shelter we need to be careful when taking in any stray cats.
If you find or trap a stray cat that may be sick, please call us BEFORE bringing it in.
