Sometimes I think being a dog groomer is a bit like dating…

I get an enquiry. I get excited. I put in effort. I reply thoughtfully, personally, and with all the info you need. I imagine a future together — fluffy dog, fresh haircut, maybe even a regular booking.

And then…
Nothing
Silence
Ghosted 👻 👻👻

No “thanks anyway”, no “I’ll think about it”, not even a “my dog has commitment issues”.

Just me, sitting here with my scissors and my feelings.

So here’s my tiny request:
If you decide not to go ahead with a booking, any reply — even a quick “no thanks” — is genuinely appreciated. It helps me manage my schedule, my time, and my sanity… and it means I can offer that spot to another dog who is ready for a long‑term grooming relationship.

Thanks for keeping the communication alive — unlike my dating life 😬🐾❤️🐶

Huge shoutout to Kowelec Electrical - I called this morning to have the thermostat in my trailers hydrobath changed out, and by 3pm the job had been sorted for me. Amazing service!!!

Miss Rass has made an appearance here before, but today she deserves a special mention. When I first met her, grooming was completely overwhelming — she shook through the entire appointment, tried to escape the bath, pooped on my table, howled during drying, and made several attempts to jump off the table. She wasn’t being “difficult”; she was terrified. So I slowed down, watched every tiny reaction, and gave her the time and space to work out what she needed to feel safe.

What changed everything was her humans commitment to regular, frequent appointments. That consistency is what allows anxious dogs to build trust, understand the routine, and realise that grooming isn’t something scary — it’s predictable, gentle, and safe.

Fast forward to today: Rass now jumps into my trailer on her own, hops straight onto the table for her deshedding treatment, and walks into the bath without hesitation. No shaking. No panic. No resistance. Just calm acceptance of the entire process from start to finish. Even the blow drying part.

This is why commitment matters. Regular appointments don’t just keep coats healthy — they help dogs learn, adapt, and thrive. They turn fear into confidence.

I work hard with every dog who finds grooming challenging, and I celebrate every bit of progress. But when a dog like Rassy girl comes through the other side — choosing trust, choosing calm, choosing connection — it is incredibly rewarding. Moments like these remind me why I love what I do ❤️🐶🐾

Mr Lucas - He’s an old boy and mum likes to keep him well maintained and comfy with regular appointments, so he gets short back and sides for this little guy 🐶❤️ He also has his own adventure page if you’d like to follow him. Anyone else’s doggie have a page you’d like to share?

12months ago, poor Tilly was entirely shaved down due to tick paralysis. It’s take a full 12months to get her coat back to be able to groomer her like the fluffy teddy bear she is. Sweet girl sits up for her photos like she is the bestest girl in the class 😂❤️🐶
