๐พ Warmer Weather = Hidden Dangers! โ๏ธ๐๐ท๏ธ
As the temperatures rise, so do the risks for your furry friends! ๐ฟ
With spring and summer around the corner, ticks and snakes become more activeโand that means extra caution is needed during walks, hikes, or even just playtime in the backyard.
๐พ Paralysis Ticks & Your Pet: What Every Owner Needs to Know ๐พ
As the weather warms up and we move into high-risk seasons, paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus) become a serious threat to pets in many parts of Australia โ particularly along the eastern coast. Even though ticks are more active in spring and summer (especially after rain), they really can be an allโyear concern.
Regular tick prevention treatments ๐พ
Use vetโrecommended products (chews, spotโons & or an annual injection) and stay up to date. Missed or delayed doses significantly increase risk.
Daily tick checks ๐พ
Examine your pets carefully every day, especially after walks or time in bush, scrub or coastal areas. Pay extra attention to head/neck, ears, paws, and underbelly.
Avoid highโrisk habitats ๐พ
Keep pets away from dense bush, long grass, scrubby or moist coastal areas when possible. Maintain your yard: mow grass, trim shrubs, remove debris.
