🐾 Beetles’ little wobble’ 💕
Beetle has been a bit under the weather lately. On a walk the other morning, she suddenly became unsteady on her feet, and her eyes began flickering from side to side, a condition called nystagmus.
It made her feel very nauseous and uncoordinated. She didn’t want to eat and quickly lost her confidence going up and down the stairs. 💔
We started her straight away on medication to treat her for senior vestibular disease, which is a lot like vertigo or like a mild stroke in people. We took a blood sample to check her internal organ and thyroid function and with plenty of rest at home, medication and lots of supportive care, and oodles of love she’s been making steady progress. 🥰
She’s been left with a slight head tilt to the right, but thankfully, we’re seeing a little more improvement every day.
And as you can see… it certainly hasn’t stopped Beetle from loving life! ❤️🐶

Here’s an interesting story…

Dr Hannah’s own little poodle Coco was not showing any signs of urinary tract discomfort, no straining to urinate and no blood in her urine. It was just by chance that Dr Hannah’s trained eye noticed 3 very tiny bladder stones in Coco’s urine when she went for a wee!

On further investigation, which included x-rays, Dr. Hannah could see that there were more stones in Coco’s bladder. Coco proceeded to successfully passed all but one of the stones herself. Unfortunately the last one proved just too big for her to pass. So, Dr Hannah performed a cystotomy to remove the last bladder stone. Coco is now back home doing well with her recovery, and starting on her new urinary diet.
