What a fantastic start to the 2026 Agility Nationals!

The Western Australian Team put in an outstanding performance today, proudly securing 2nd Place in the Teams competition. 🥈🐾

A huge congratulations to all the handlers and dogs who represented WA with skill, determination, and teamwork. From the first run to the last, everyone gave it their all and showcased the talent and dedication of our state.

We're incredibly proud to be part of such an amazing team and to see Western Australia standing on the podium on Day 1 of Nationals.

Brisbane Dog Training Club Pre-Nationals Trial – Day 1 🐾

What a fantastic start to our Nationals campaign!

🏆 Kalani was outstanding, taking 1st place in JDO2 and 1st place in JDM2, showing her experience, consistency, and love for the game.

🥈 Karma also had a great day, earning 2nd place in JDX and continuing to gain confidence and maturity with every run.

Bolt & Kira blew us a way with their amazing JD run 💪

We're incredibly proud of all our dogs and grateful for the opportunity to have a final hit-out before the Agility Nationals begin.

Tomorrow we head back to the Brisbane Dog Training Club for another trial, giving the dogs another chance to settle into the Queensland conditions and have some fun in the ring before the big event kicks off.

One last trial before we hit the road to Queensland tomorrow for the Agility Nationals! 🇦🇺🐾

While the agility girls were in the ring, Karma spent the day lure coursing with Aunty Jo and had a great time, finishing with 174 points. 🐕💨

What a way to finish our local trial season before heading off to represent Western Australia at the Agility Nationals. We're excited for the adventure ahead and can't wait to see what Queensland has in store for us.

🐾 Teaching Your Dog a Reliable Recall 🐾

A reliable recall is one of the most important skills your dog will ever learn. Not only does it give your dog more freedom, but it can also keep them safe in unexpected situations.

✅ Start in a low-distraction environment
Begin indoors or in a quiet area where your dog can easily focus on you.

✅ Make coming to you rewarding
Every time your dog comes when called, reward them with something they love—treats, toys, praise, or a game.

✅ Use a happy, enthusiastic voice
Your recall cue should always predict good things. Make yourself more exciting than the environment.

✅ Build success gradually
Increase distance and distractions slowly. Set your dog up to succeed rather than testing them before they're ready.

✅ Never punish your dog for coming back
Even if they took their time, always reward them for returning. You want your dog to believe that coming to you is always worthwhile.

✅ Practice regularly
Short, fun training sessions throughout the week will build a stronger and more reliable recall than occasional long sessions.

Remember, a great recall isn't built in a day. Consistency, patience, and plenty of reinforcement will create a dog that loves racing back to you every time they're called. 🐕💨❤️

🏆 New Title Achievement for Karma! 🏆

What a fantastic milestone for Dustrazor Instant Karma! Last week Karma gained her Jumping Dog (JD) title, earning her promotion to JDX and qualifying to compete at the Agility Nationals in Queensland.

Karma has added some more letters to her name and will now be known as:

Dustrazor Instant Karma JD RN SPRD

🐾🇦🇺 The countdown is on! 🇦🇺🐾

On Monday, Kira and I will be hitting the road with Kalani, Karma, Spice, and Bolt as we begin our journey to the Australian Agility Nationals in Queensland.

We're incredibly proud to be representing Western Australia and are looking forward to sharing this adventure with our amazing dogs. From the early mornings and countless training sessions to the highs and lows along the way, every moment has led us to this opportunity.

Now it's time for a road trip, plenty of dog cuddles, and making memories with friends from around the country while doing what we love most.

Wishing all competitors safe travels, and we can't wait to see everyone in Queensland!
