Please be aware that wildlife will also be seeking shelter and "stressing" about the pending weather.
If you notice a creature sheltering in a carport or garage or on a porch or in a yard, please consider if you really need it relocated. Give it a few days and it will move on by itself anyway.

Moving any animals in these situations could lead to their death through either stress or by them being released into a location that is not suitable.

Obviously with venomous snakes it is more of a case by case basis but for pythons, possums, lizards, etc, leave them some space, keep your pets inside, however you can make it work.

Cheers and stay safe

This is why I am always happy to have a conversation with callers about whether they need a snake removed.
If I do relocate, it is to a suitable location according to the needs of the snake and the community.

Years-long research project by Australian National University (ANU) finds snakes become 'very disoriented', lose weight and get sick when relocated

Hundreds of snakes are moved from backyards, inside homes and other urban areas into reserves and bushland each year

The impact on the snakes after they are released has been unknown, but after years of gathering data, the project is in its final stages. It's uncovered some alarming findings.

The researchers found the translocated snakes are losing significant body weight and condition over time, by moving more and struggling to hunt as effectively, a key insight into the impacts of translocation

The initial findings show the translocated snakes move in more erratic and unpredictable ways, and are exposed to a much higher burden of risk as a result of being moved out of their home ranges where they possess an acute awareness of the location of key resources.

"It's pretty sad to see this decline of what was a really healthy snake originally." (ANU PhD student Hannah Gerke)
