About the Clinic
We’re so excited to announce our first clinic for 2026 a weekend dedicated to helping riders and horses strengthen their partnership through understanding, timing and feel.
Held at the Gunning Showground, these clinics are suitable for all levels — from young, green horses through to seasoned riders wanting to refine their communication.
Greg’s teaching is calm, practical, and highly adaptable. His focus is on helping horses and humans find balance — mentally, emotionally, and physically — while creating softness and willingness from the ground up.
What You’ll Learn
Over the two days, we’ll work through a structured but flexible program that meets each participant where they’re at:
Round Yard & Liberty Work
We’ll begin with groundwork and round yard sessions, using the “don’t change gait, don’t change direction” principle to help your horse tune in and look to you for direction.
This phase focuses on clarity and communication — teaching your horse to read your body language, find relaxation, and stay mentally connected without needing to be micromanaged.
From there, we build on this with lock-on exercises — creating a horse that wants to stay with you, not because of pressure, but because they’re mentally with you.
You’ll see clear demonstrations of how subtle shifts in energy and timing can change the entire feel of a horse.
On-Line Groundwork
Once we’ve established connection at liberty, we’ll move into on-line exercises — developing softness, yield, and respect through feel on the lead rope.
You’ll learn:
• How to establish clear boundaries while maintaining softness
• The bump to the fence exercise — helping horses find the right answers and build confidence in pressure-and-release communication
• How to develop lightness in transitions, leading, and lateral work
• Ways to improve straightness, responsiveness, and confidence in movement
These techniques are not just groundwork — they directly shape how your horse will respond under saddle.
Under Saddle
When ready, riders move into ridden sessions focused on applying what’s been learned from the ground.
You’ll explore:
• Transitions through feel rather than rein pressure
• Steering through seat and intention
• Building softness, control, and confidence under saddle
• Maintaining relaxation and rhythm in all gaits
If you or your horse aren’t ready to ride, Greg will provide tailored ground-based exercises to keep you progressing alongside the group. Every activity can be modified to suit where you’re at — there’s no pressure, only encouragement and guidance.

Hello everyone!
EOI - Gunning clinic January 31st & 1st of Feb, Should we run a weekend clinic!? Please comment or message the page
We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New years! We are really looking forward to getting back into it this year.
The Gunning showground arena only has the 31st of Jan and 1st of Feb available for the next few weeks! We would be happy to run a clinic if people are keen to come along!
Weekend clinic - $480
Camping and yards are free
working on all things horsemanship, ground work, connection/liberty training, safety under saddle and ridden excises and much more! All ability levels and disciplines welcome. Any questions let me know!
