Training Tip Tuesday: Walks Are Essential (Not Optional!) 🐾

Dogs are built to move and explore - it’s in their DNA. Even if you have a big yard, your dog still needs:

✔ Daily walks
✔ New smells and experiences
✔ Time with you outside the home

To your dog, a yard is just a big kennel. Walks are what keep them mentally and physically healthy. If you don’t you may start to experience some doggy backlash such as barking, excessive digging or even some yard destruction.

Save yourself and your dog the stress and add a walk to your day, every day. You’ll both be thankful.

This glamorous girlie is searching for her first class life ✨

Swan has been with us since October, that’s 8 months in the shelter! She is our most overlooked dog, with zero enquiries.

Swan is a couch potato at heart but can be jumpy and excited when meeting new people. She is best suited as the only dog in the house.

😽🐾 Purr-poseful call out for kitten foster carers!

Kitten season is well underway and the Ballarat Animal Shelter needs community support more than ever.

Foster homes are vital to giving young cats the best possible start in life by providing care, space and individual attention. By opening your home for even a few weeks, you can help free up space at the shelter and give a kitten the best possible chance to thrive.

Kittens thrive in home environments where they receive one on one care, socialisation and the chance to grow into confident, healthy cats. Foster care also helps reduce the risk of illness often associated with shelter environments.

The shelter provides all food, litter and veterinary care, with no cost involved.

Introducing...

🐾Shadow!🐾

Shadow is a sweet but nervous boy who can be a bit jumpy, especially in new situations.

The world is still pretty big and unfamiliar to him, so he'll need a calm, patient home to help build his confidence at his own pace

Once he feels safe, Shadow really comes out of his shell. He's affectionate, loyal and loves being close to his people. He has a gentle nature and forms strong bonds with those he trusts.

He's great with other dogs too!

With a bit ADOPTEDof time and reassurance, shadow has so much potential and will be a wonderful companion!
