Following on from last weeks post, another paddock found to be plagued by nasty cockchafers! Over 20 cockchafers found in 1 shovel of dirt! Second picture shows the classic non reversible damage that these grubs can do to new and established pastures and crops πŸ˜₯

Cockchafers are definitely out and about at the moment with young hatched from recent rains. These guys can cause significant damage in a short amount of time in a range of situations πŸ›πŸŒ±πŸŒ§οΈ

Brassica Appreciation! 🌱❀️

Videos: A mob of good looking cattle taking full advantage of Captain Canola sown early autumn into cereal regrowth. Once the cattle have finished grazing, the cereals will be selectively sprayed out allowing the canola to develop yield for oil at the end of the season and we will be keeping an eye on the sneaky slugs! πŸ„

A common sight this season! The late spring rains given many clovers the boost they needed to get through summer and to kick on for another year! With increasing pressure on input and production costs and the uncertainty of urea supply, the reliance of these resilient legumes is even more important!
The decision was made to nurse this paddock through for another season and annual ryegrass has been over sown to give more bulk πŸ’ͺ
