๐Ÿ‘Š

Breeding Mill: commercial inhumane high-volume breeding operation, where maximum production takes priority over the health and welfare of the animals. There are breeding mills for most animals.

Animals are kept in cramped and filthy conditions. Bred frequently and irresponsibly while harboring illnesses & without regard to their own welfare. This leads to bad blood/genes, shorter life expectancy and overall sickly litters. Sold at low prices to pet stores or wholesalers, this often results in premature death & owners unknowningly purchasing an already sick animal with health problems or defects.

The breeding mills existence canโ€™t be deniedโ€”many registered breeders complain that mills sell three and four-week old kits to pet stores (because pet stores, and pet store patrons, want โ€œcuteโ€ baby animals). Also, many sell mixed breeds that are passed off as purebred, engage in the culling of "runts", females kept pregnant all the time and extremely poor husbandry standards. These animals live in terrible conditions, sick and dying animals with no veterinary care.

The breeding mill industry contributes HUGELY to pet overpopulation by breeding animals indiscriminately in large numbers for sale in pet stores and other venues. All while, ironically, disputing the fact that a problem with overpopulation even exists while there are millions of homeless animals in the shelters.

- Approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter animal shelters every year.
- Approximately 1 million of these companion animals are euthanized every year, due to lack of space and overpopulation.

+- 20% that make it to the petstores die after arrival,
+-72% of exotics die before arrival at the petstores.
+- 85% of petstore animals come from breeding mills.

Observations on group of petstore animals:
+- 63% sick upon purchase
+- 23% die after purchase

Mills are largely unregulated.

Shout out to New York State!
New York lawmakers passed a bill on June 7th that bans pet stores from selling Dogs, Cats and Rabbits! What a terrific start to banding the sell of all animals. Every state needs to make
Stop the animal "mills", no more animal suffering!
