👑Update: After many injections and round-the-clock care, we’re happy to share that King’s vet is pleased with his progress so far.

He’s been at Blue Hills Vet since yesterday for a scope, which will give us a clearer picture of whether his ulcers have healed. We’ll be bringing him home this afternoon either way, but fingers crossed he’s in the clear and we can finally stop the weekly injections.

Most people never get to see this part.

When the barn doors close and the day winds down, the rescues come in for the night. It’s their favourite time — supper time, treat time, grooming time, loving time… and finally, bedtime.

We play classical music every evening, and like clockwork, everyone settles. The grooms go quiet. The animals relax. It’s our little ritual — their lullaby.

Within minutes, they're drifting off 😴

We love Fridays—but this one was extra special 🥰

Today we hosted two awesome groups of young explorers from New Eagles Day Care and Baby Shoes & Toddlers for a fun farm outing full of learning, playing, and fresh air. The kids explored the sanctuary, met our rescued residents, and enjoyed a healthy plant-based lunch in the sunshine.

Our school tours are designed to give kids space to learn, explore and experience kindness in action and all proceeds generated go towards caring for our rescues.

Lion King is home 🙌🏻
We’re so happy to share that our brave boy is back at the sanctuary after a few days of care at Blue Hills. He’s now starting a six-week treatment plan and a special recovery diet.

While he’s definitely on the mend, King could still use all the loving energy you can spare — or even some cuddles if you're planning on popping in.

Update on King: After a thorough examination and scope, he’s been diagnosed with pyloric ulcers — painful lesions in the glandular part of his stomach, where it connects to the small intestine 💔

King now begins a strict treatment plan: a carefully managed diet and injections every five days for six weeks. He’ll then return to the hospital for another scope to monitor his healing.

We’ll be bringing him back home this Friday, and we’re hopeful he’ll be feeling much more comfortable soon. But his vet bills are substantial, and we need your help.

Please keep our Lion King in your thoughts 🙏🏻

As part of our daily routine, we always check on all our animals when they come in from a day of grazing. Yesterday, we noticed King wasn’t quite himself and was showing signs of colic.

We immediately called our emergency vet and, with the help of our wonderful grooms, stayed by his side through the night. Thanks to everyone’s quick action and care, we got him through the worst.

This morning, we made the decision to take him to our trusted team at Blue Hills for ongoing monitoring and treatment, just to make sure he’s getting the very best care.
Lion King is in good hands, and we’re hopeful for a full recovery.
