He has completed his SANEF teaching modules 1-5, which include his level 1 instructor’s qualification. Currently busy with his final practical year, studying Equine Science at the Tshwane University of Technology. He is based in Hartbeespoort area where he runs his own stable yard "EquiWest" but does freelance instructing and training in the Pretoria. Shaun has been riding since the age of five an
d has been having lessons from various instructors in both Botswana and South Africa. He has competed in eventing, showjumping, dressage and showing successfully. When moving to Pretoria in the beginning of 2012 he was fortunate enough to be given the privilege to ride, school and compete horses with Sue van der Merwe. She allowed him to compete and train in showjumping specifically. The dressage aspect came in with most of his clients needing schooling and competing of horses. He was able to compete regularly and successfully. Shaun has also schooled and showed horses both in hand and under saddle at various showing shows including HOY and Arabian Nationals.
