Lavender Stables Where horses are loved and people rediscover rest, connection, and belonging. Horse experiences, gentle riding & peaceful livery.

Johan & Madeleine moved to the small farm, which was originally intended to be a
weekend home, in January 2013. Inspired by Madeleine's daughter's love for horses , and Johan's fond memories of horse riding on his uncle's farm as a young boy the couple decided to start a stable yard. They wanted to share the tranquility of the farm with others as well as utilize the existing facilities. They comb

ined Johan's skills as a civil engineer and property developer with Madeleine's business management background and eye for detail to offer a beautiful stable yard with a unique atmosphere. Since moving out to the farm, the stable yard has been upgraded with beautiful bathrooms with shower facilities, two guest houses offering accomodation at special rates to stablers, and a soon to be completed kitchen / rider's lounge. Visitors also have the opportunity to take a stroll or ride through the small private game farm to view the zebra, impala, blesbok, springbok, nyala and ostriches. The deck at the dam was completed in 2019 and offers a stunning place for sundowners or early morning coffee!

✨ Day 3 - Energy speaks louder than words. ✨

Today marked the final day of our Teen Retreat, and what a beautiful way to finish.

We slowed down and listened to our bodies. We filled our emotional cups through creativity, spending the morning painting in the winter sunshine while chatting about what makes us happy, what drains our energy, and why nourishing our bodies is one of the kindest things we can do for our minds.

Then the fun really began!

Sharon Saxophone joined us for a confidence workshop that had everyone laughing. 🎷

Each colourful item we wore carried a simple reminder:
🎩 Hats reminded us that confidence begins with our thoughts.
👓 Funny glasses encouraged us to make eye contact.
🧥 Funky jackets reminded us to stand tall.
🧤 Bright gloves challenged us to grab life with both hands.
💃 And dancing… well, dancing reminded us that being alive is a gift.

The greatest lesson of the day didn’t come from any of us.

It came from the horses.

As we laughed, danced and walked through the paddock, the horses quietly fell in behind us, following our colourful little parade.

No lead ropes.
No treats.
No pressure.

Just energy.

It was a beautiful reminder that who we are often speaks louder than what we say.

Three days.
New friendships.
Many laughs.
Creative moments.
A little more confidence.
A lot of horse hair.
And countless reminders that growth doesn’t always happen in a classroom.

Sometimes it happens in a paddock, under an African sky, with horses leading the lesson. 🤍

Day 2 Rooted & Becoming

🐴 Sometimes the best lessons don’t look like lessons…

Today reminded me that horses have a wonderful way of bringing people together.

What started as a Teen Girls Retreat turned into a day shared by teenagers, children, parents, horses… and even one very tired little dachshund. ❤️

We groomed horses, rode both with saddles and ba****ck, tackled an obstacle course, shared a simple meal and spent time outdoors together.

Without anyone really noticing, we also practised slowing down, taking a breath before a challenge, finding our rhythm, building confidence and encouraging one another.

One shy little boy found the courage to spend time with the horses.

There were lots of smiles, plenty of hugs, and more than one person saying…

“I want to do that again!”

I think that’s the magic of horses.

They don’t teach through lectures.
They teach through experience.

And somewhere between a gentle brush stroke, a deep breath and a trail ride, people discover something about themselves.

This is what Lavender Stables is all about.
A place where horses are loved… and where people leave feeling a little braver, a little calmer, and a little more connected than when they arrived. 🤍

Day 1 - Beautifully Woven Together

Some days remind me that meaningful moments don’t need a crowd.

Today we slowed down, took a deep breath, groomed two beautiful horses, spent time noticing instead of rushing, and headed out on a peaceful ride.

One of my favourite moments was introducing a little girl to horses for the very first time. She started out cautious and a little unsure, but by the end she had groomed a horse, ridden two different horses, and was confidently riding on her own.

As she climbed off, she smiled and said, “I want to do that again.” ❤️

It’s amazing what can happen when we create a space where people feel safe enough to be curious, brave enough to try, and supported enough to grow.

These are the moments that remind me why I love what I do.

🌿 Looking for more than just a fun holiday activity for your teen daughter?

What if she could spend a few days away from screens, comparison and pressure… and come home with practical tools for life?

At Lavender Stables, girls aged 13–17 years will spend time with horses, nature and one another while exploring:

🐴 Confidence and healthy boundaries
💜 Understanding emotions and calming the nervous system
🌸 Discovering strengths, values and identity
🌿 Mindfulness and self-awareness
✨ Learning to listen to the wisdom of their bodies
🦋 Belonging, friendship and self-trust

This is more than a horse camp.

It’s an opportunity to slow down, reconnect and discover that you don’t have to earn your worth—you simply need to learn to care for the whole person you already are.

📩 Message me for dates, details and bookings.

Because the greatest gift we can give our daughters may not be more activities… but the skills to navigate life with confidence, curiosity and kindness toward themselves. 💜🐴🌿
