🐱🌸 KITTEN SEASON IS COMING — LET’S GET AHEAD OF IT!🌸🐱

As spring approaches, our female cats are starting to come into heat — and that means kitten season is just around the corner.

Did you know that female cats can go into heat from as young as 4 months old? That means an unsterilised young cat can very quickly become an unexpected mum.

Every year, our cat carers and rescue organisations are faced with more kittens needing homes, care and veterinary attention. We can help lessen that load before it starts.

💗 The best way to help cats is to sterilise your cat BEFORE any unwanted litters.

Sterilising your cat:
🐾 Prevents unwanted kittens
🐾 Helps reduce the number of homeless and stray cats
🐾 Prevents suffering
🐾 Helps our already stretched cat carers and rescues
🐾 Gives your cat a healthier, safer future

💔 **We Need Your Help** 💔

Hoedspruit Alley Cats is in a very difficult position, and today we're reaching out to our amazing community for help.

Over the past few weeks, we've taken in a large number of sick and vulnerable kittens that needed urgent veterinary treatment, medication, and around-the-clock care. At the same time, we've continued our sterilisation efforts because preventing unwanted litters is the only long-term solution to reducing the number of homeless cats in our area.

While we're incredibly proud of the lives we've been able to save and the cats we've prevented from adding to the growing stray population, it has come at a cost. Our veterinary account has grown to a point where we are desperately in need of funding to keep going.

Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards paying our outstanding veterinary bill so that we can continue helping cats and kittens that have nowhere else to turn.

🐾 **Two Handsome Boys Looking for Their Forever Homes!** 🐾

We're hoping to find loving families for two wonderful adult cats who are each looking for a place to call home.

💙 **Arthur** is a gorgeous grey and white gentleman with a gentle, loving personality.

🧡 **Simba** is a handsome ginger boy full of charm and affection.

Both boys are:
✔️ Vaccinated
✔️ Sterilised
✔️ Healthy and ready for adoption

**Arthur and Simba are available for adoption individually and are not required to be adopted together.**

Adult cats are so often overlooked, but they make amazing companions. They settle into home life beautifully, are full of love to give, and deserve the chance to be someone's best friend.

🐾 Mid-Week TNR Mission at Unifrutti!🐾

This week, the Hoedspruit Alley Cats team headed out for a mid-week Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) campaign at Unifrutti, where an estimated 30 feral cats currently call the property home.

With just 6 traps, we had an incredibly successful first evening, trapping 9 cats! The following morning, we returned to the site and managed to safely trap another 7 cats, bringing our total to 16 cats sterilised in just one campaign.

Every one of these cats was transported to Maroela Animal Hospital, where they were sterilised before returning to their colony. A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Maroela Animal Hospital for always accommodating our TNR campaigns and helping us make a real difference for Hoedspruit's feral cats.

Sterilising even half of a colony like this will have a significant impact on preventing future litters, reducing suffering, and improving the overall health of the colony. We'll be back to continue trapping until every cat has had their turn.
