Bergview Veterinary Hospital Caring for Hermanus Pets Since 2013🐾
We’re proud to provide professional, compassionate care to pets in the Hermanus area.

From routine to advanced medical and surgical services plus 24HR emergency— your pets are in good hands, when needed the most🩺🐾 Dr's Maarten and Sherry van Dalsen have a combined experience in veterinary medicine of over 36 years. Dr Maarten trained in South Africa and has practiced in the UK at a variety of veterinary clinics and hospitals. He was the Senior Vet at an Emergency Critical Care practice where he dealt with critical care cases both surgically and medically He has a keen interest in Orthopedics. Dr. Sherry trained in the USA at the University of Georgia and has practiced in the USA and in England. Her experience is not only in general practice, but she also has similar experience in emergency and critical care. She has a keen interest in dentistry and dermatology. Both Dr's Maarten and Sherry fell in love with Hermanus and decided to start their own unique practice. They selected the best state of the art equipment brought over from the UK. The clinic has stainless steel kennels, digital x ray and is fully equipped to handle difficult surgical procedures. We have a special dental machine that is safe on the gums, pulse oximetry monitoring and only use the most up to date anesthetics. The clinic has IV pumps for those patients needing fluids. It ensures the patient only gets the set amount of fluids needed. Our microscope has a camera, so our clients can see what the Doctor sees when we do a blood smear, ear swab or skin scrapes. The aim of Bergview Veterinary Clinic is to provide clients with the most up to date and informative veterinary service. It is important to make pet owners an integral part of the decision process when treatment is needed. We will always be informative and do what is best for your best friend.

🐾 *WE LIVE IN ZWELIHLE. OUR LIVES MATTER.* 🐾

We see it time and again. 💔

Pet owners in our township communities who _want_ to have their animals sterilised, but simply cannot afford the cost.

Life is hard and it’s expensive. Without help, unwanted litters continue, and so does the cycle of suffering. 😔

*We want to change that.* ❤️🐾

PAWS & CO, together with Bergview Veterinary Hospital, are working to make sterilisation free and accessible to pet owners in our Hermanus township communities.

We fundraise to cover the cost of sterilisation and support owners who are willing to take this important step towards responsible pet ownership. 🐕🐈

*PLEASE HELP US TO HELP THEM.*🙏

Every donation brings us closer to a future with fewer unwanted litters and healthier, happier animals.

And as the Emergency vet day continues….Owner: “She’s covered in white powder!! Everywhere!!”
Dr Sherry: internally screaming “please don’t be xylitol”
Turns out it was Golden Flour Cappuccino muffin mix. What a relief!! 🤣
Dog broke into the cupboard, ripped the box open, and went full bakery heist.
No xylitol. Just one very dusty, slightly cappuccino-scented criminal.
Dignity: gone.
Prognosis: excellent.

Our patient is doing well after emergency surgery tonight to remove a fish hook.
Dogs can swallow hooks with bait in a split second. Never pull on the line or try to remove it yourself — always call an emergency vet right away🐾

Be alert!

We have received an urgent Snakebite warning from Dr Maarten of Bergview Vets in Hermanus.

Please walk your dogs before 8am in the morning to avoid them getting bitten by snakes.

There has been an unprecedented amount of dogs needing treatment for snake bites all over the Overberg and Western Cape. As a result there is a huge shortage of anti-venom with which to save their lives.

Please keep your doors closed during the day, especially as summer approaches Keep your dogs indoors and safe in the midday heat.

Thank you Dr Maarten 🙏
