You’ve seen Callie and Tallie on our page as babies in need of a foster, now these young cuddling professionals are in need of a forever home. Could their stretchy, cuddly, sweet little selves make themselves comfortable on your couch?

Originally spotted at , with their mom, these sweet siblings were provided with much love and care by the coffee shop’s kind staff – but we all agreed that they needed a safer, more comfortable life. After some time spent with our dedicated fosters, they’ve worked on their snuggling skills and got over their wariness of people, and are all ready to settle down in a place to call their own. Message us today to meet them!

How can we say no to little faces like these? With your help, we won’t have to.

While Mitchell Park Paws isn’t a foster organisation, we’re often contacted about emergency, “overflow” cases that other groups have needed to turn away – and, as is the case with this tiny tabby, our own volunteers find kittens more often than you’d ever imagine!

All this kitty needs is a warm place to stay and someone to love him. We can provide his foster with kitten food and pay for his vet care.

Help needed for a sweet kitty 🐈‍⬛
PLEASE SHARE 📱 Foster needed urgently!

This little friend was found at one of our feeding sites, trying to cuddle up to the other kitties 🥹 Our clever volunteer managed to scoop up the kitten and get him into a Woolworths bag to transport him to safety, where he immediately started purring, safe and warm. Kitty is off to the vet this morning so we can learn more about his health.

We’ve got the chance to be at this year’s Ales for Tails, a community-driven, family-friendly craft beer, gin, and music festival raising funds for animal welfare across KZN!

Our past week has been extremely eventful (what week isn’t, when you’re working with cats?), but the lives of two young mom cats were changed for the better, and two big steps were taken to stopping the overpopulation cycle in our part of the world.

Ginger (or Ginger Ninja to her friends) has been on our radar for a while and was finally trapped and spayed due to some expert manoeuvring by 🙌 Serena, who’s been hiding under the Mitchell Park tennis courts, was trapped accidentally when we were aiming to round up kittens, and so off to the vet she went!

Thanks as always to for making this all possible, and to donors who let us say “yes” to cats in need!

Caring for kittens takes a team effort, and we’re grateful for donations in kitten season and throughout the year. These can be used to care for kittens found near to our feeding sites, or passed along to the foster organisations who care for the tiniest feline friends all over Durban.

So, what’s the wishlist?

🍼 Wet food sachets
Bigger kittens love the tempting taste and texture of wet food of all types.
🍼 Kitten mousse
For weaning kittens, this super-soft mousse is easy to eat and packed with nutrition. It’s also incredibly valuable for helping Mom cats to recover from the hungry work of feeding their babies.
🍼 Kitten milk
Bottle babies – kittens who are orphaned or otherwise unable to drink milk from their mom cat – are dependent on high-quality formula to save their lives.
🍼 Kitten kibble
As kittens get a bit bigger, they need special dry food for little teeth to nibble on. It’s the ideal shape and size for their development.
🍼 Cash donations
Emergency medical care, vaccinations, and getting kittens and their moms sterilised to stop the cycle of over-breeding: it’s all essential work, and it all adds up, so every donation helps.

Our events are the best place to bring along a donated item, but if you’ve got something to spare and want to organise a drop-off or collection, please let us know! ✉️

As part of our Kitten Shower fundraiser, we’re treating you to a sweet prize! Because a celebration isn’t complete without a cake,  is giving a lucky winner the chance to choose their own design for a custom 4” bento cake – just the right size for a sweet surprise on a birthday, anniversary, or just because. 
One ticket costs R20, three tickets cost R50, and you can buy them online with Yoco or Zapper – or get your ticket in person at Cupcakes for Cats on 25 January at . Funds raised go to helping the city’s tiniest feline citizens: kittens born this season and currently in foster care.

Important things to know: 
• To buy your tickets, swipe through the images above for Yoco and Zapper detail. Send a screenshot of proof of payment to 0836320002 or via DM to Mitchell Park Paws. Once a response is received, your entry is confirmed.
• You may select a number between 1 and 200 for your raffle entry. Online entries will be included on the raffle sheet by organisers, and event attendees may choose from all remaining numbers. 
• A winner will be selected at random after 2pm on 25/01/25. The winner will be contacted thereafter and may respond within 48 hours. 
• Whisk Me Away Cakery will consult with the winner on their options for a custom 4-inch bento cake design, and reserves the right to limit design options
• Prize may be redeemed any time before the end of 2025, subject to date availability.
• Prize is for collection in Sherwood, Durban.

What does my ticket include?
Your R100 ticket covers a cupcake, icing, and sprinkles, as well as a coffee or any regular hot drink from Barn Owl. Kids are welcome to swap their drink for a juice box. ☕️🧃

What to bring and how to help 🛍️
Your ticket includes a donation to Mitchell Park Paws, which we’ll use to fund sterilisations and stop the problem at the cause. Fewer kittens = better care for every kitten!
We’d love it if you could bring along a “shower gift” donation of kitten food, milk formula, or anything that cats can consume (mommy cats are hungry, too!). What is a kitten shower?
Much like a baby shower, a kitten shower is an event to prepare for new arrivals – in this case, the many kittens that are born every year during ‘kitten season’. When we say ‘We’re expecting’, we mean it: hundreds of young kittens are born in our region over summer, and the organisations caring for them need our support! We’re raising funds and collecting essential supplies to help kitten fosters care for their tiny guests.

How do I foster kittens?
This is one of the best ways to help cats and kittens during kitten season, and all you need is a small, safe space to accommodate some little guests. Ever opening your home for a few days is a huge help in an emergency!
At this event, we’ll have experienced fosters on hand to answer your questions, but you’re welcome to get in touch any time and find out about the organisations that need your help, and how to get involved.

Did you know that every morning, dedicated feeders make sure that the feral cats of North Beach get a morning meal? will be holding a Cat Walk on 12 January to raise awareness and funds for their work, and Mitchell Park Paws will be there! 🐈 🐈‍⬛
