As we work to sterilise even more cats in our area, we’re raising funds to cover the costs of the spays, neuters, and other health concerns that we come across in the cat colonies. Our latest batch of trinket trays in collaboration with .faatima include our first ginger babies – modelled after the little orange family we now care for.

When you buy one from us for R150 or make a donation to Mitchell Park Paws, you’re making a contribution towards a future where every cat is cat cared for – and helping us to keep our promise that we won’t stop until we get there.

It’s almost time for , and we can’t wait to welcome you!

At our Colour For Cats stall, grownups and older kids can create their own meowsterpiece from a blank or pre-drawn, cat-themed canvas by , while little ones can grab crayons and complete your assortment of kitty colouring and activity sheets from .

We’ll also be offering face-painting to bring even more creative fun to this family day out, and know that all of the other animal charities have incredible activities lined up for visitors to try. 🎨 🎪 🪇🎳

Alongside the live music, craft brew, kids’ activities and fun planned for all, you’ll be able to shop Mitchell Park Paws merch like bracelets, toys, .Faatima’s custom trinket trays, pins, and magnets.

Here’s why we do this 🍊

This week, we added to our vet bill by trapping a beautiful ginger cat named Tigger who needed urgent surgery to remove his eye and save his life. Tigger and his ginger cousins are not members of our Mitchell Park colony.

Why would we help another colony of cats when keeping our park kitties fed already feels like a full-time job? Why would we, in fact, start feeding TWO new colonies in Morningside and plan to sterilise them all?

🍊 Feral cats’ needs can’t be isolated and contained. When cats are suffering nearby, other colonies are inevitably affected by illness, injury from unsterilised and aggressive male cats, unwanted kittens, or anger from neighbours who just see an unmanaged problem rather than individual creatures in need.
🍊 Because the need is right here, in our neighbourhood. Who could ignore these little faces?
🍊 Because we know we can, with your support. We’ve sterilised and cared for 30 cats over the past two years – why NOT more?

When we received a message a few months ago with an offer to create a website for us, free of charge, we were delighted – this was something we could never afford at this point, and we badly needed a central place for all of the information about Mitchell Park Paws. What we could never have imagined is the creativity and attention to detail that .0mar would bring to our website: it’s not just a super useful tool that’ll help us to run operations more smoothly, but it’s also a real reflection of who we are and what we do.

You asked, and we listened: at Cake Sale for Cats this weekend, you’ll once again have the chance to join a session of cupcake decorating, icing and sprinkles supplied along with juice or a regular coffee drink. This time, we’ve introduced a Four For Feral Felines ticket option: for R300, a group of four friends or family members of any age can join us and enjoy everything that a standard ticket offers.
