🚨 URGENT PUBLIC NOTICE – PAWS HAVEN TEMPORARILY CLOSED 🚨
Today, JB Marks Local Municipality disconnected the electricity supply to Paws Haven.
Unfortunately, this has brought a large part of our operation to a standstill.
Paws Haven relies on a borehole for our water supply, and without electricity, our borehole pump cannot operate. This means that we are currently without running water as well as electricity.
We still have animals in our care who need to be fed, cleaned, medicated and looked after every single day. Our team is doing everything possible, but basic tasks now have to be done manually with buckets and whatever water we can access.
For this reason, Paws Haven is temporarily CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC until further notice.
❌ No kennel visits
❌ No volunteers
❌ No new animal admissions
❌ No veterinary assistance or consultations at this time
❌ Existing veterinary appointments will need to be rescheduled
We also urgently have to make alternative arrangements for medication and veterinary supplies that require refrigeration.
We have sought legal advice and are currently communicating with the relevant parties in an effort to resolve this situation as quickly as possible.
As our community knows, since Paws Haven opened approximately a year ago, we have operated without financial support from the municipality or government. We do not receive municipal or government funding to run our shelter, and we have carried the responsibility of caring for the animals entrusted to us through the support of the public, donors and our own fundraising efforts.
Right now, we need our community behind us more than ever.

If we cannot immediately assist you, take in an animal, accommodate a volunteer, continue with a veterinary appointment or allow you into our kennels, we are not trying to be rude or unreasonable.
We simply cannot operate normally without electricity and running water.
Our animals are still here.
They still need us.
