WE DON'T SAVE EVERY ANIMAL. WE FIGHT FOR EVERY ANIMAL.
When you donate to the Wayne County Humane Society, you're supporting a team that works 24/7, 365 days a year to give every animal in our care our absolute best.
We have limitations. We have hard days. And yes, we believe euthanasia is sometimes necessary. While we will not euthanize adoptable companion animals, we believe humane euthanasia is a last resort to end an animal's suffering. And we will never protect a label at the expense of an animal's welfare.
What we can promise is that every animal will matter.
This little guy came to us last Saturday with his jaw completely degloved, exposing the entire bone. We don't know how long he had been suffering, but thanks to the good Samaritan who found him, he made it to us.
We said YES.
With the support of our incredible community, he underwent surgery to successfully reattach his jaw. He's now recovering on wet food while his jaw heals.
Cases like this are expensive. Your donations give us the ability to say "Let's try" when an animal needs extraordinary care.
Sometimes we save a life. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is let an animal go peacefully.
Both are animal welfare.
Thank you for giving us the resources to fight for animals like this little guy.
This is animal advocacy.
