💕HOW does Lordi still not have an adopter?!

This BIG puppy is just looking for someone to love, play with, and call his own! At 70 lbs, Lordi is convinced he's still a tiny baby and hasn't quite realized he's built more like a small horse. 😆

Lordi has done well with the dogs he's met, but because of his size and goofy puppy enthusiasm, a playmate closer to his size would be ideal. He's all paws, wiggles, and happiness!

Today, he spent some time "playing" with our kennel guest Scoop from Naugatuck Animal Control. The two shared an alligator toy through the fence, taking turns and having the sweetest little play session. Lordi was absolutely thrilled to have a friend, even if poor Scoop is about the same size as one of Lordi's giant paws. 🐾🐊
The video of him sharing his toy with Scoop is absolutely precious and really shows what a sweet-hearted goofball he is. Lordi is FULLY vetted, housebroken & ready for his new family!

🐢 PLEASE WATCH FOR NESTING TURTLES! 🐢

Woodbury Animal Control has identified a snapping turtle nesting site. These incredible reptiles are simply trying to do what nature intended—lay their eggs and ensure the next generation has a chance to thrive.

🚫 DO NOT DISTURB THE NEST
⚖️ Disturbing, relocating, harassing, or destroying turtle nests may be a violation of state law and can result in fines and other penalties.

Please keep children, dogs, and vehicles away from marked nesting areas. A few moments of caution can make all the difference for our local wildlife.

👶 Watch for baby turtles in September! If the eggs are successful, tiny hatchlings will emerge and begin their journey to nearby wetlands and waterways.

🐢 PLEASE SLOW DOWN — SAVE THE TURTLES! 🐢
💔Thank you Turtle Haven for easing this sweet female's pain

Today, we responded to a report of a snapping turtle that had been struck by a vehicle on Orchard Avenue near Church Hill.

Turtles aren't fast. This wasn't a deer suddenly darting into traffic. This turtle was simply doing what turtles do this time of year—slowly crossing the road to find a safe place to lay her eggs.

Sadly, her injuries were too severe, and she had to be humanely euthanized.

The silver lining is that her eggs will be carefully harvested, and if they are viable, they will be incubated and eventually released back into the area. While some life may be saved, this mother turtle lost hers in a tragedy that was entirely preventable.

As temperatures warm, turtles are on the move. Please take an extra moment to slow down, especially on wooded, winding back roads. A few seconds of attention can mean the difference between life and death for these incredible animals.

Thank you to Cali for stopping by to see if Lordi likes dogs!! Lordi will require a meet & greet but he was happy to have a friend his size to take a walk with & do a little on leash play!

Just a quick clarification regarding our hours! 😊

While the shelter office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Animal Control is on call 24/7 for animal emergencies.

If you have an after-hours emergency, simply contact Troop L at 203-626-7900 and they will get an Animal Control Officer dispatched right away.

We do have one small request: if we don't answer immediately, please leave a message! We may already be on another call, helping an animal in need, wrangling an escape artist, or—believe it or not—even taking a bathroom break. 🚽😆 Repeated calls won't get us there any faster, but a voicemail will make sure we can get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. While the shelter doors may close at 4 PM, Animal Control never really clocks out! 🐾

🔥We are sure you've seen the news::::

Today, we were proud to assist our fellow officers at Naugatuck Animal Control during an incredibly challenging and frightening situation.

First and foremost, we are beyond grateful that ACO Tooth is SAFE. Through quick thinking, courage, and dedication, she safely evacuated the animals in her care and got them to safety during the chaos.

Woodbury Animal Control was honored to answer the call for mutual aid and is currently housing some of the displaced dogs while neighboring ACOs also took some.

This is a reminder of the incredible teamwork that exists within the ACO community. When one agency needs help, others step forward.

Please keep Brittany, the Naugatuck Animal Control staff, and all involved in your thoughts, and be sure to follow Naugatuck Animal Control for updates.

Today, what matters most is that Brittany and the animals are safe. ❤️🐾

Two Weeks ago, I was involved in a dog bite during an open investigation and have been out to recover. I just want to say THANK YOU to my part timers for holding down the fort while I've been out, I know it hasnt been easy and your hard work is greatly appreciated!

With that said, I am coming back to a completely full shelter. I know your hearing it from many of us throughout CT, but this is just crazy!
