I'm sharing as Misti is one of the most caring pet sitters I know! 🐾❤️🐾 She was also my pet sitter before she moved back to Kentucky. Her love for animals is unmeasurable and Midas is absolutely adorable 🥰. If you are able to help with positive thoughts, prayers and or a donation, anything would be appreciated. Update on our baby Midas 🤍

He did relatively well in surgery, even though it was extensive. 

He had nothing left of his disc except for fragments and jelly. He also had a few blood clots that they sucked out, and one of his spinal nerves is stretched out, plus his spinal cord was significantly compressed. But the good news is the vet is confident that he should start recovering, but it really just depends on the next four weeks.

We are unable to qualify for CareCredit and unfortunately are maxing out all our credit cards to afford his surgery, but it is so very worth it because he’s only six years old, and a vital part of our family. 🤍💜

“Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.

I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn’t be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn’t want her to know that I hadn’t been walked today. Sometimes the overworked shelter keepers get too busy and I didn’t want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn’t feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone’s life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.

I would promise to keep her safe.
I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.

I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven’t walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.”

This is Joey (the dog🐶). Joey is visiting all the way from North Carolina, and he is the ultimate guard dog...so much so he locked his dad out of the truck! Here is the sweet message Joey's mom sent us last night.

"I wanted to share this picture from tonight. My husband is a truck driver with home base in Verona. We live in North Carolina. He is in Verona for a few days with one of our dogs, Joey. [My husband] was using the company pick up and left Joey in the truck with the heat on while he got some things out of his tractor trailer. Joey locked him out. [My husband] called the police department for assistance. I didn't catch the officer's name, but he was pretty quick to the scene and very courteous (I was on the phone and overheard the conversation). I asked my husband for a picture to show my coworkers- I am a Veterinary Technician and manage an animal hospital and was very surprised that the officer posed for it. Thank you! I know our PD here in Fayetteville love to post "fluff" to show the warmer side of officers. Well, this is literally fluff, of the fur kind. Kudos to your officers!"
