She saved lives.

Now, the rescue world is mourning hers.

The animal rescue community is heartbroken after the death of Mikayla Raines, founder of SaveAFox Rescue, who died by su***de at just 31 years old. Her husband, Ethan, shared the devastating news in an emotional post, saying she gave everything she had to her animals, her family, and the mission she built, but silently carried immense pain.

Mikayla turned a dream into a sanctuary, rescuing foxes from fur farms and failed ownership. Her work didn’t just change animal lives, it inspired thousands of people across the world.

But rescue is not easy. It’s sleepless nights, heartbreaking losses, online attacks, and emotional exhaustion. It’s doing your best, while often being told it’s not enough. And too often, the toll is invisible.

Mikayla kept going, through all of it. Her husband says he’ll carry on her mission in her honor. She leaves behind a young daughter, Freya, already learning kindness from her mother’s legacy.

To anyone struggling: you are not alone. You are needed.

RMEF is offering a $5,000 reward to help solve this Wisconsin elk poaching case north of Black River Falls. Someone illegally killed a collared elk - one of the last breeding bulls brought in from Kentucky in 2016, and one that played a key role in establishing Wisconsin’s central elk herd. It died from a gunshot wound.

I'm sharing as Misti is one of the most caring pet sitters I know! 🐾❤️🐾 She was also my pet sitter before she moved back to Kentucky. Her love for animals is unmeasurable and Midas is absolutely adorable 🥰. If you are able to help with positive thoughts, prayers and or a donation, anything would be appreciated. Update on our baby Midas 🤍

He did relatively well in surgery, even though it was extensive. 

He had nothing left of his disc except for fragments and jelly. He also had a few blood clots that they sucked out, and one of his spinal nerves is stretched out, plus his spinal cord was significantly compressed. But the good news is the vet is confident that he should start recovering, but it really just depends on the next four weeks.
