This morning, Dr. Newman underwent emergency neck surgery. We’re grateful to share that he is doing well and in the care of the right medical team.

🕵️‍♀️✨ Last weekend, Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge hosted the incredible Sleuths Mystery Dinner! Winter Park Veterinary Hospital was proud to be a sponsor and to enjoy such a fun evening in support of wildlife care.

One of the highlights? Meeting Luna the screech owl 🦉💙—what a star of the night!

Our partnership with Back to Nature means so much to us. At WPVH, we’re often the first stop for injured or sick wildlife. After receiving medical care from our team, patients are transferred to BTN for rehabilitation so they can safely return to the wild. 🐾🌿

We’re grateful to stand alongside them in this important mission.

Meet Karina, one of Winter Park Veterinary Hospital’s incredible technicians🤩

From a young age, Karina’s natural curiosity for animals grew into a lifelong passion for helping those in need. She volunteers her time at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, where she works hands-on with wildlife—rehabbing, releasing, and caring for them with compassion.

At WPVH, Karina brings that same dedication to every patient, from beloved family pets to the wild animals we treat. She is passionate about both healing and honoring animals, whether it’s nursing them back to health or helping to peacefully end suffering when needed.

We are so proud to have Karina on our team—her heart for animals and commitment to learning inspire us all.❤️

Did you know their iconic “beard” puffs up and darkens when they’re feeling excited, threatened, or just showing off?

At Winter Park Veterinary Hospital, we see lizards like bearded dragons regularly and are one of the few local hospitals to provide specialized care for them!

👩‍⚕️🐾 In this video, Dr. Foti is removing an ear polyp from a cat who had been struggling with chronic ear infections.

Symptoms this kitty experienced included:
Persistent ear infections with bad odor
Head tilt
Constant scratching at the ear
Since the procedure, this cat hasn’t had another ear infection! 💙

🔍 What are ear polyps?
Polyps are benign growths that can develop in a cat’s ear canal, middle ear, throat, or above the soft palate. They’re most often seen in younger cats, but can occur at any age. Symptoms may include:
🐱 Chronic ear infections
😺 Snoring or noisy breathing
🐾 Head tilts or balance issues

Because of their location, polyps often require anesthesia or advanced imaging for diagnosis and treatment. We have all these capabilities here at WPVH!

Keeping a close eye on your pet’s health and addressing symptoms early can make all the difference. 🐾💙
