Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week from McAbee Veterinary Hospital!

Our receptionists are an important part McAbee Veterinary Hospital. From answering calls with compassion to greeting clients with a smile, they’re often the first and last point of contact for our patients and their families. Their dedication and care help ensure every visit is as smooth and positive as possible.

To our amazing receptionists: Aubrey, Emilie, Gaby, Kali, Kat, Klellie, Macaila, Selena, and Starla — thank you for being the welcoming faces and kind voices that our clients rely on. Your hard work and commitment are truly appreciated, and we’re so lucky to have each of you on our team!

To all the veterinary receptionists out there: You are the unsung heroes who make veterinary care possible. We celebrate you today and every day!

🐰🥚 To our friends who celebrate, Happy Easter!

While you’re enjoying your chocolate eggs, remember to keep those sweet treats out of paw’s reach and stick to pet-friendly goodies instead.

Friendly reminder that chocolate, especially dark chocolate and products containing cocoa, can be dangerous to pets, even in small amounts.

Wishing you a safe & hoppy holiday!

This Week is National Pet ID Week!

Did you know dogs and cats are NEVER too old for a microchip? 🐕🐈
Pets of all ages can become lost, and every pet deserves the promise of coming Home.

While a collar with tags is a great first line of defense, combining it with a microchip is the ultimate way to ensure your pet’s safe return. Microchips are permanent, reliable, and can’t be lost or removed.

Remember to keep your pet’s ID and microchip info up to date!

Stop by and ask us about microchipping next time you're in. It’s a simple, safe way to keep your furry friends protected.

Spring Showers Bring... KITTENS!

That’s right — as the flowers bloom and the rain falls, we officially enter kitten season!
Get ready for tiny toe beans, squeaky meows, and a whole lot of adorable chaos.
But here’s the real scoop:
• Unspayed cats + warm weather = kitten explosion
• Shelters get overrun with fluffballs needing homes
• Spay & neuter is the real MVP of spring
• Found a litter outside? Mama cat is probably nearby! (Don’t cat-nap them just yet!)

April is National Heartworm Awareness Month!

Heartworm disease is a serious, but preventable condition that affects both dogs and cats. More than a million pets in the United States have heartworms, and the damage caused by these parasites can lead to serious health issues or even death.

Did you know?
🐾Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitoes, so even indoor pets are at risk.
🐾Symptoms in dogs can include coughing, fatigue, and difficulty breathing. In cats, it may be harder to detect, but vomiting, coughing, and even sudden death can occur.
🐾Prevention is key! Monthly heartworm preventatives can keep your pet safe.

What can you do?
❤️Get your pet tested for heartworms annually.
❤️Keep your pets on a year-round heartworm prevention plan.
❤️Schedule a check-up if you're overdue for a heartworm test.

Ask us about the best heartworm prevention options for your pet today! 🐾❤️
