Look how beautiful Annie is!
This outdoor cat is used to roaming free outside and is tired of being kept in a kennel!
Annie is looking for a place where she can truly be herself. Having spent much of her life outdoors, she would thrive in a barn or similar environment where she can enjoy her independence while still having caring humans looking out for her. She's already spayed, up to date on vaccines, and has lived alongside other cats in the past!
If you have room in your barn Annie just might be the perfect addition to your crew!

Meet Willow!

Willow is almost 10 months old and is super sweet and social. She loves playing with her foster siblings, both animal and human. She is exceedingly gentle but occasionally forgets just how big she is. This girl loves to run, tug and wrestle. After playing she enjoys a long nap on a couch. She most enjoys being with her people, and can often be found underfoot, despite her size. Willow can be shy at first and takes a little time to warm up in new situations. She does not respond well to raised voices or being pushed too quickly. She is however a very quick learner and responds exceedingly well to patience and calm training techniques. While large, she is still very much a puppy, prone to chewing and zoomies when she hasn’t had enough exercise or mental stimulation. She is working on being brave while walking on leash. She knows sit, down and paw. She is crate trained, house trained, and does well with other dogs and cats.

AARF is making it easier than ever to find your perfect companion with our Summer Lovin’ Adoption Special! Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we’re offering 50% off all adoption fees for a limited time, June 5–13. It’s the perfect moment to welcome a new best friend into your life - and we’re here to help you every step of the way.

To get started, follow these simple steps:

1. Learn about our adoption process. Visit the Adopt section to learn how we match pets with loving families and what to expect along the way.

2. Submit your adoption application early. Sending in your application ahead of time gives our team the chance to review and approve it before June 5, so you’re ready to meet pets right away.

3. Explore our adoptable dogs and cats. Browse the animals currently looking for homes. You might spot your future companion.

4. Attend one of our weekly adoption fairs. Meet our pets in person, talk with staff and volunteers, and find the match that feels just right. Adoption fairs are held at the AARF House every Saturday, 302 Thurston Street, Winston-Salem (dogs, 11-1; cats 11-2). Attend the Summer Lovin’ extended adoption hours on Friday, June 12 from 6-8 p.m.

When you first meet Kaliha, she might stand back and assess the situation for a bit. But once you're in, you're in! And that means you have the very definition of a velcro dog on your hands! She absolutely loves affection and wants nothing more than to be by your side. If Kaliha isn't snuggling with you, she wants to run and play, so she would probably do best with an active family. She gets along well with calm energy dogs but is apprehensive around dogs with strong personalities. Bonus: she is house-trained and does great on a leash!

Swing by the AARF House on Saturdays between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to meet our adoptable animals! We're located at 302 Thurston Street in Winston-Salem. Get the adoption process started and head to aarfws.org to fill out an application!
