Hooker Ranch Equine Refuge Hooker Ranch is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit rescue for equines. We are a Full Circle of Life Shelter. We have taken in 14 owner surrenders to date. Near or far!

Hooker Ranch is working hard to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome critical and senior equines. At this time, we have saved 46 equines from the slaughter pipeline. Since April of 2022, we have adopted out 25 equines, we have 5 sanctuary horses, 8 were humanely euthanized, 1 passed away under our care and 1 passed away while in veterinary care. We have taken in 1 shelter transfer to date. Volunteers

are always needed. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact us! We can use you at almost ANYTIME OR DAY! All donation funds are used directly for all needs of at-risk equines to include veterinarian care, dental, farrier fees, nutrition, shelter, AND well-being. NO ONE COLLECTS A PAYCHECK AT THIS RESCUE! As a 501(c)(3) IRS VERIFIED NON-PROFIT, ALL Donations are tax deductible. We can provide receipts and records on request.

Her name is now GINGER!

Our big beautiful Belgian mare is home!

She is doing so good and in beautiful body condition.

Her only issue is a large, liquid filled mass on the right side of her poll.

We are hoping to get her to doc soon to ultrasound and x-ray it to determine a treatment plan.

In the meantime, she needs a name!

Today was so beautiful….

We had volunteers come out and help, which was so amazing!

They brushed and bathed our most critical horses.

They hugged and loved them with the love and care they’ve never felt…

We opened up stalls in the barn and laid down shavings, and Moxie went straight away to getting comfortable.…

Today my heart is so full and I feel so incredibly blessed that so many people came to appreciate and love these animals like they’ve never been loved before.

Like we don't have enough going on…..😅

I have quietly befriended a TX horse trader in an effort to get draft horses direct from the Amish at the sale.

He just contacted me and is giving me the opportunity to purchase this Belgian gelding before taking him to the Killpen for direct shipment.

We are looking to raise $1000, the price the trader is asking for him. This is substantially cheaper then any Killpen, no board and no transport charge.

The gelding has a lump on his neck which could be anything, but my gut thinks it is a benign tumor of some kind do to its location, but we won't know until he gets here.
