Royal Vista Vet Specialists Our Royal Story:
Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists was founded by Drs.

We specialize in emergency care, internal medicine, medical oncology, surgery, and advanced imaging—with a commitment to excellence and compassion in every service we provide. Randy Willer and Kara Keesling with the goal of bringing together a diverse group of highly experienced veterinary specialists to deliver unprecedented medical and surgical excellence, remarkable client service, and effectiv

e communication to the animal-loving community of Northern Colorado and Wyoming. At its heart center, Dr. Willer’s and Dr. Keesling’s shared vision is based on honesty and integrity upon which a foundation of client trust, support staff empowerment, and appreciation for the family veterinary community is built. Based on the enjoyment of working together previously at a large specialty hospital, it was effortless for Dr. Willer and Dr. Keesling to align their passions and continue to foster, through exceptional veterinary healthcare at Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists, the endearing bond that we all share with our animal family. The high cost of veterinary specialty care can be limiting to many animal-loving clients who truly want to make the best possible healthcare decisions for their pets. With this in mind, we at Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists are committed to providing affordable veterinary specialty care while employing highly trained specialists, utilizing advanced medical and surgical equipment, and catering to the specific needs of each of our clients. We value inclusiveness and respect for the extraordinary veterinary community in Northern Colorado and Wyoming. In the spirit of collaboration, the veterinarians at Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists will serve as partners to your family veterinarian by communicating frequently about your pet’s condition in a cooperative effort that will ensure the best possible outcome for your pet. Our goal is to deliver a Royal veterinary healthcare experience that exceeds your expectations!

When you have a pet in your life, accidents and emergencies are bound to happen. In honor of National Pet Preparedness Month, we’re sharing a simple DIY first aid kit you can easily assemble for your pet.

While a kit like this one can help you address minor cuts and injuries in the moment, be sure to consult with your vet or the closest emergency vet should your pet become ill or injured. To familiarize yourself with first aid techniques, we recommend
seeking out a pet first aid course near you or downloading the free
American Red Cross pet first aid app.

What a great Saturday at the Fire Hydrant 5K!

Thank you to NOCO Humane for hosting such a fun event and to everyone who came out to run, walk, shop, and support the local pet community. We loved meeting so many people (and pets!) and appreciate everyone who stopped by our booth.

We can't wait to do it again next year!

Our Internist, Dr. Deatherage, and the internal medicine team had a great time at Blue Sky Animal Clinic presenting a Lunch & Learn on Proteinuria last week!

At Royal Vista, we love offering Lunch & Learns to our referring hospitals as a way to build strong connections across the Northern Colorado veterinary community and share knowledge that helps elevate patient care.

Special shoutout to our most engaged attendee, Norman the cat. He might have just been there for the lunch, but we're hoping he learned a thing or two!

Moonbeam, a pregnant foster dog from Big Bones Canine Rescue, came to Royal Vista for an emergency C-section after complications during labor. This brave one-eyed mama delivered 11 puppies, and while we’re heartbroken that one did not survive, 10 healthy puppies are now safely here thanks to the quick action of her rescue team and our ER staff.

Big Bones is currently raising funds to support this sweet family through recovery and beyond. Please consider supporting their incredible rescue efforts and sending lots of love to Moonbeam and her little moon pups.

When Reo’s routine annual bloodwork showed abnormal results, his primary veterinarian referred him to Royal Vista for further evaluation. Reo first saw Dr. Sandy for an ultrasound, and based on the findings, he was scheduled the very next day for an exploratory laparotomy, splenectomy, and liver biopsy with Dr. Hazenfield.

One of the things that makes Royal Vista special is the close collaboration between our specialists, allowing pets like Reo to move quickly from diagnostics to treatment when it matters most.

Wishing sweet Reo a smooth recovery!

Spring is planting season and while gardens are growing, so are some hidden dangers for our pets.

As you dig, plant, and plan, take a moment to double check what’s pet-safe and what’s not. Many common plants, even a few you might find in your vegetable garden, can be toxic if ingested.

If your pet does get into something they shouldn’t, Royal Vista is here for you 24/7 with emergency care.

Whether you're an avid gardener or houseplant owner, it's important to know what plants can be toxic for your pet! Here you'd find a list of top toxins for your pet.

Ruby has become a familiar face in our internal medicine department, coming in to see Dr. Deatherage for routine monitoring of her IMHA, which is currently in remission and being kept a close eye on with regular bloodwork.

When she first came to visit us, Ruby was pretty shy and nervous, but each visit she shows a little more confidence than the last. We love watching that shift from nervous newcomer to “I’ve got this” patient!

It’s World Veterinary Week, and we’re taking a moment to celebrate the incredible doctors who show up every single day for your pets.

From solving complex cases to offering comfort during the hardest moments, our veterinarians do so much more than medicine. We see the long hours, the dedication, and the heart you pour into every patient and every client. Your compassion makes all the difference.

If you see one of our doctors this week, help us say thank you!

Megan, a 4 year old Pomeranian, came to our emergency department after her owner noticed she just wasn’t acting like herself.

After an ultrasound with Dr. Sandy, we discovered early signs of pyometra, a serious uterine infection that requires prompt treatment. Megan was taken into surgery with Dr. Hazenfield, where our team worked quickly to get her on the road to recovery.

Now, Megan is healing here at Royal Vista and her personality is making a comeback, look at that tail wagging!
