There’s just something special about doing a gastropexy. 💛

In the military, it was mandated that all working dogs have this procedure before entering service—because the risk of GDV (aka bloat, aka “the mother of all emergencies”) is so high in deep-chested breeds. That meant I got a lot of practice during my active duty years.

Now, every time I perform a gastropexy in civilian practice, it still feels like I’m saving a life. Preventative medicine at its finest—and honestly, it’s just really fun to operate on a patient who outweighs me! 😄🐾 - Dr. Allie

Keep your pet's nails in tip-top shape with these simple at-home tips:
1️.) Try sensitivity training by gently touching their paws and toes while giving treats or praise.
2.) Distractions are key! Use their favorite snack or have a family member help to keep them calm.
3️.) Clip a little bit off at a time and do it more frequently to avoid discomfort.
4️.) Remember, we're always here to help if you'd rather leave it to the pros—nail trims are available at our clinic!
