Give a Rescued Dog a Good Home...Yours! To rescue homeless, neglected, abused and forsaken dogs in Wimberley, Texas and place them into loving, permanent homes.

WAG Rescue is a volunteer supported organization committed to the following community services:

To rescue and assist in the permanent placement of stray, abandoned, unclaimed, and surrendered dogs in and around Wimberley, Texas. To promote and ensure the compassionate and humane treatment of dogs in our care by providing medical treatment, vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and professional beha

vioral evaluation, training and rehabilitation if required. To place these dogs in a safe-haven, and provide a pre-screened foster home where they are nurtured, receive training and learn socialization skills so that they have the best chance of becoming a good companion animal. To find the most suitable, vetted permanent home for each dog based on its temperament and personality and compatibility with the adoptive family. To promote, through education, responsible pet ownership, pet health and safety, and the humane treatment of all animals. To promote spay/neuter of all pets in order to prevent overpopulation and animal suffering, and provide Emancipet low or no cost vouchers for dog spay or neuter to Wimberley residents.

WE DID IT!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our many supporters, we have officially met our Open the Doors to More matching campaign goal!

$30,000 in donations have been matched dollar-for-dollar and together we raised $60,000 over the past two weeks to support the opening of our new kennel building.

This campaign wasn't just about raising funds—it was about preparing for the future.

Meet Scarlett 💕🐾

If you’re looking for a small dog with a big personality, Scarlett might be your girl. This sweet Chi mix has left her puppy days behind but still has plenty of energy for adventures, playtime, and making memories with her future family.

Her foster family says she’s a wonderful companion—she rides well in the car, is crate trained, appears potty trained, sleeps through the night, and loves curling up next to her people after a day of fun. Meet Patches, our pet of the week 💛🐾

This sweet Dachshund/Pug mix has been through a big life change, but he’s proving every day what a loving companion he is. Patches loves people, enjoys leisurely walks, and we’re pretty sure he’s house-trained too!

Sesame arrived at WAG Rescue in July 2024. Handsome, smart, a volunteer favorite from day one. But being a large dog at 55 pounds, with a special allergy diet, most people kept scrolling. For TWO years, our team showed up for him anyway. Every single day.

Behind every adoption is a lot of work that most people never see.

Yesterday, WAG Rescue pulled FIVE dogs with significant medical needs from San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter in a single trip. These dogs needed more than a safe place to wait—they need treatment plans, medical care, recovery time, and people willing and able to invest in their future.
When shelters and rescues work together, more dogs get a second chance. WAG Rescue is incredibly grateful for our longstanding partnership with SMRAS and for our veterinary teams, caregivers, volunteers, and all our supporters who make life saving decisions like this possible. Together we create pathways for dogs who need extra time, resources, or specialized care before they are ready to find the loving families they deserve.

This is the behind-the-scenes work of rescue and adoption: vet appointments, medications, surgeries, fundraising, and countless hours of care. It's not always seen, but it's what changes lives.
