🐱💛 FIP Awareness Day 💛🐱

Today we’re spreading awareness for a disease that has touched the hearts of so many cat lovers — Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).

FIP is a serious viral disease caused by certain strains of the feline coronavirus. While not contagious between cats in its FIP form, it can develop when a cat’s immune system reacts abnormally to the virus — most often in young or stressed cats.

For many years, FIP was considered untreatable, but thanks to recent advances in veterinary medicine, there is hope. 🌟 With new treatment options and early detection, more cats are surviving and thriving than ever before.

At East Bay Pet Hospital, we believe knowledge is power — and awareness can save lives. If your cat experiences persistent fever, weight loss, or fluid buildup in the belly or chest, reach out to your veterinarian right away. 💙

Let’s honor the fighters, the survivors, and the ones we’ve loved and lost — by sharing awareness and continuing the fight for better feline health. 🐾🐈‍⬛

🚫🐾 Why You Should Never Give Your Dog Cooked Turkey Bones 🦃

We know it’s tempting to share holiday leftovers with your furry family members, but cooked turkey bones can be very dangerous for dogs.

⚠️ Here’s why:

They splinter easily – sharp pieces can puncture the stomach or intestines.

Choking hazard – small or jagged fragments can block your pet’s airway.

Digestive issues – bone shards may cause vomiting, constipation, or even life-threatening blockages.

Pancreatitis risk – fatty turkey skin and drippings can upset your dog’s stomach and pancreas.

👉 If you’d like to include your pup in the holiday feast, stick to pet-safe treats or plain, unseasoned turkey meat (in moderation).

❤️ Keep your pets safe this holiday season so everyone can enjoy the celebrations together! And if you think your pet has gotten anything they shouldn't have please call Bay Area Pet Hospital!

💛 Happy World Kindness Day! 💛

At East Bay Pet Hospital, we see acts of kindness every single day—whether it’s a gentle pat on the head to calm a nervous pup, a smile to a fellow client in the lobby, or our team going the extra mile to make each visit low-stress and full of care. 🐾

Today is a great reminder that kindness doesn’t have to be big to make a difference—it can be as simple as holding the door, offering a kind word, or giving your furry friend some extra snuggles. 🐶🐱

Let’s celebrate by sharing kindness not only with one another, but also with our four-legged companions who give us unconditional love every day. 💕

✨ How will you spread kindness today? Tell us in the comments!

🎗️🐾 Canine Lymphoma Awareness Day 🐾🎗️

Today we’re shining a light on a disease that affects so many beloved dogs — lymphoma. 💛

Lymphoma is one of the most common cancers in dogs, often first noticed as swollen lymph nodes under the jaw or behind the knees. While hearing the word “cancer” can be scary, early detection and advances in veterinary medicine mean there’s hope — and time — for quality care and happy moments ahead. 💕

If you ever notice lumps, changes in appetite, energy, or weight, talk to your veterinarian right away. Regular wellness visits and communication are key to catching things early.

Together, we can raise awareness, support families, and give more dogs the fighting chance they deserve. 🐶✨
