Summer Splash Safety for Pets!

Swimming can be great exercise and fun for your furry friends - but it's not without risks.

Here are our top tips to keep them safe:
Supervise At All Times - Even strong swimmers can get tired.
Use A Pet Life Jacket - Especially for brachycephalic breeds, seniors, or beginners.
Rinse After Swimming - Chlorine, salt, and lake bacteria can irritate skin and ears.
Watch For Signs Of Fatigue - Heavy panting or struggling means it's time for a break.
Ear Care Is A Must - Dry ears thoroughly to help prevent infections.

Have fun, but remember - safety first! Schedule a wellness check before your pet's next big summer adventure.

🐾 Dr. Lizzy’s First Exotic Patient Here at WVH! 🐾

Today, we got to meet the sweetest guinea pig called Girl! 🐹💛

Girl came in after an injury, and within minutes had the whole team wrapped around her tiny paw.

We love caring for all kinds of pets — from cats and dogs to guinea pigs, rabbits, reptiles, and feathered friends. We are happy to see exotic pets for our established clients, so if your furry, scaly, or feathered family member needs care, we’re here for them!

Let’s give this Girl a big “get well soon” in the comments! 💬✨

Exotic Pet Policy Update

We are happy to share that our clinic is now accepting exotic pets (such as birds, reptiles, and small mammals) for existing clients only. This means if you already bring your dog or cat to us, you’re welcome to schedule appointments for your exotic pets as well.

Please note that availability for exotic appointments may be limited depending on the veterinarian’s schedule and area of expertise. If you’re interested in having your exotic pet seen, feel free to contact us to check appointment times and requirements.

We look forward to continuing to care for your whole furry, feathered, or scaly family!

We're so glad to welcome Dr. Avonlea to the team here at Whitewater Vet Hospital! Her skills, energy, and love for animals are just what the dogtor ordered!

Dr. Avonlea Odling was raised on a small farm in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, where she developed a strong foundation in animal agriculture. From a young age, she was actively involved in 4-H and FFA, exhibiting multiple species including sheep, swine, cattle, horses, and poultry. This early exposure evolved into a deeper interest, leading her to show cattle and swine at the national level.
These experiences solidified Dr. Avonlea’s passion for animal health and production, particularly in livestock reproduction. She pursued her veterinary education at St. George’s University and completed her clinical year at Iowa State University. Dr. Avonlea’s professional interests are centered on reproductive management and health of cattle, as well as swine health.

We can't wait to see the amazing impact she'll bring to our hospital!

☎️We've been made aware that our clinic's phone number-262-473-2930-may be showing up as a spam call for some of our clients. We understand how frustrating this can be, and we're actively working with our phone service provider to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, please know that any call from our clinic is legitimate; especially if you're expecting a follow-up or appointment reminder.

Thank you for your patience and understanding! 🐾
Feel free to give us a call directly if you have any concerns.

Challenge of the Day: "If I fits... I sits!" Edition!

Today's challenge: Show us your pet squeezing into the weirdest, funniest, or most unexpected spot they've claimed as their throne. Whether it's your cat crammed into a soda box, your dog sitting proudly in a child's toybox, or your bunny curled up in a salad bowl! We want to see those hilarious "why are you like this?" moments!

Because let's be real- no space is off limits when our pets decide that's the place to sit.

Ready..... Set..... SIT!
