Maybe you had this and now you go for walks at night, or in graveyards to avoid other dogs/people so your dog won’t blow up like this (yes I’ve had people walk in graveyards and at 4 am to avoid things)

Stop avoiding the problems, especially when the solution is within 4-6 weeks of consistent training.

Nobody wants to hide and constantly stress about going for a simple walk with their dog.

Axel is in for a board and train program to deal with his aggressive behaviors like this and general listening skills. He has nipped a few people and is reactive to other people/dogs. Should be a fun one to train!

What do you do with a truly scared dog that won’t go down stairs, won’t move past a scary noise or truck?

Most people think you should just take it slow and use food and slowly work your way at the dogs pace, never forcing the dog through any stress.

They would be wrong. And end up spending way more time than they really need to fix a problem.

Dogs need guidance from us, and the simplest form of guidance is using leash pressure! Show them, help them and reward them for success when they push past their fears and can actually function despite the nervousness.

Once you show them that they can do it, they become so much more confident. This applies to many aspects of life.

Think of your first time on the interstate and driving at the higher speed. I bet that was nerve racking. But after driving for years on the interstate, now you are one handed driving, messing with your Spotify playlist and eating a sandwich.

Do more of what scares you or makes you nervous.

I bet after practicing that speech or presentation for the 100th time, you’ll feel way less nervous.

Dogs are the same.

Most dogs run their owners life because obligation was never part of the deal. Can’t go to the park. Can’t go on walks. Can’t even go away for a few hours because their dog can’t behave in a crate alone.

Does your dog actually know what down/sit/place means?
Show them different pictures, motivate them to do the things we ask, but also build obligation that they must do them as well.

Most people can’t do the obligation part and wonder why their dogs don’t listen to them when distractions appear 🙃

Rambo was a return to breeder type of dog- full of energy and wanting to work!

So off we go through the training process. This was his first time practicing skills off leash with me and did pretty well.

He may be available to the right home after his training is complete, or maybe I’ll add him to my pack since I like him so much 😬😬
