😳😬 ingredients matter

🚨🐶🐱 EUROPE BANNED TITANIUM DIOXIDE FROM ANIMAL FEED! YET BRANDS LIKE HILL’S, MILK-BONE & TEMPTATIONS STILL LIST IT IN SOME OF THEIR PET FOODS!

Why is this concerning?

🔬 Studies raise questions about DNA DAMAGE, PRECANCEROUS INTESTINAL CHANGES & DISRUPTED GUT BACTERIA!

And here’s the surprising part: Titanium dioxide provides ZERO nutritional benefits to your dog or cat. It’s a coloring agent used to make food look more appealing!

WHAT DOES THE RESEARCH SHOW?

🧬 DNA DAMAGE CONCERNS: In 2021, the European Food Safety Authority concluded that titanium dioxide could no longer be considered safe as a food additive because potential damage to genetic material couldn’t be ruled out. The EU subsequently prohibited its use in animal feed.

🚨 PRECANCEROUS CHANGES: A peer-reviewed study published in Scientific Reports found that food-grade titanium dioxide was associated with early precancerous changes and intestinal inflammation in rats.

🦠 DISRUPTED GUT BACTERIA: Research published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found that titanium dioxide nanoparticles reduced beneficial gut bacteria, including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, and increased intestinal inflammation in mice.

🩸 BLOOD SUGAR DISRUPTION: A 2025 study published in Food and Chemical Toxicology found that titanium dioxide nanoparticles disrupted blood sugar regulation and reduced important gut hormones involved in appetite and digestion.

🐾 SO WHY IS IT STILL IN PET FOOD?

Titanium dioxide is still permitted as a coloring additive in North America, and some products from Hill’s, Milk-Bone and Temptations have listed it among their ingredients.

THIS ISN’T ABOUT FEAR-MONGERING. IT’S ABOUT EDUCATION AND ASKING PET FOOD MANUFACTURERS TO DO BETTER!

Pet parents deserve transparency about what’s going into their animals’ food.

When an ingredient provides no nutritional benefit and raises legitimate scientific safety concerns, it’s reasonable to ask:

WHY IS IT NECESSARY IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Our dogs and cats deserve better. 🐾❤️

CHECK YOUR PET’S INGREDIENT LABELS AND SHARE THIS TO HELP EDUCATE OTHER PET PARENTS!

Edited to add: I (Theresa) am by myself today, so if I don't answer the phone, I'm helping another customer. You can text 334.512.9799 and I will answer as soon as I'm able. Actually, most of the time only one person's in either store, so if we don't answer right away it's because we're helping other customers. Thanks so much for your patience ❤️

If you're planning to shop the Wetumpka store today, but can't find parking due to The Kelley's Wildlife Arts Festival, if you call in advance so I know what you need you can double park on front of the store and I'll run it out, or you can park at the Farmer's Market and I think First Baptist Church as there are shuttles running during the event.

The event ends at 3 and the Wetumpka store closes at 4 so if you don't like either of the aforementioned options, you should be able to park after 3. Or of course you are welcome to shop the Montgomery store. Shannon says it's the best one anyway 🤣

Thanks for your patience during this event ❤️

New puzzle toys/slow feeders at both locations 🧩

Well. I've been leaving Spike loose at night, because he's a good kitty and doesn't eat into food bags like Ricky Bobby. This morning he met me at the door and was very vocal.

According to Spike (and confirmed by cameras), ceiling cat #9 is somewhere in the building.

Happy Sunday! Is anyone interested in local beef? I'm ready to order, but we need a few more commits. Check out Broken Plow Farm for details on a long time friend's quality pasture raised beef.

Found outside of the store earlier this week. Perhaps someone from The Kelly dropped it?
