Real emergency “down”.

First time trying off-leash stairs. She’s extremely good and staying on the perimeter obviously when she doesn’t have to think extra on the stairs. However, you have to start somewhere. I decided today would be the day that I’m gonna take her off the leash and she was great until the last staircase. She broke the eyesight perimeter. I called her. Lauren said she’s coming, and I didn't hear it. It didn’t register, so I called her again, which confused the crap out of her. Lauren saw it. And she did say she was confused, and as you can see, it took me several seconds to digest and say “down.” Once she heard that, I went and retrieved my dog.

Everybody in the Freedom Program is taught that emergency training. Not many practice it. But now you can see how it’s used in real life. Not always can a dog figure out how to get back to you. And you can see how I confused her all by myself. So I don’t rely only on “come” And have this build in as well.

Since the beginning of the Freedom Program, it has been standard practice.

Nori is living the LIFE!
When you have a well-behaved dog, they get to go everywhere you can bring them, and that is the meaning behind the freedom program.

This was a blind search for me.
Look how she took charge of that last close-proximity hide.
“But, Mom, there is one more.”
I enjoy her so much, and she lives to work!
You can absolutely have a dog who is completely reliable in obedience and, at the same time, not afraid to show you when you’re wrong.
But it requires a very delicate balance in the relationship
