High Drive vs. Low Drive Service Dogs 🐕

At Big Dog Ranch Rescue, we primarily train low drive service dogs, those calm, steady companions who take life in stride and adapt easily to their handler’s pace.

But for some lifestyles, a high drive dog can be the perfect match. The key? A reliable on-and-off switch. These dogs bring intensity and focus when it’s go-time, then settle right back down when the work is done.

Different drives. Same mission. The right dog for the right person.

Every step builds confidence. 🐾

These Beagles are learning that a leash means safety, trust, and new adventures ahead. Leash training takes patience, consistency, and lots of love and these dogs are already making wonderful progress.

We’re so proud of them as they continue growing braver with every walk on their journey.

For many lab-raised Beagles, taking food from a human hand is a brand new experience. At Big Dog Ranch Rescue, training starts with patience, trust, and tiny wins.

Hand-feeding helps build confidence, connection, and positive associations with people. Go slow, keep it gentle, and celebrate every little step because for these Beagles, even accepting a treat can be a big milestone. 🤍

She’s currently training as a service dog for one of our veterans, but more than anything, we just want you to meet her. The journey she’s on is incredible, and it all started with a second chance.
