Many technicians take on additional rolls around their clinics. Shanna is a prime example of this. On any given day you can find her completing inventory, scheduling appointments, educating clients, helping take radiographs, collecting lab samples, handling HR tasks, and generally keeping the clinic functioning. She is our practice management software guru, and the person everyone turns to when they need encouragement and support. We cannot say enough good things about her!

Shanna has been at the clinic since 2017. When she's not keeping all our ducks in a row, she's busy being a mom, grandma, and 4-H leader. With 6 children and 3 grandchildren, and a multitude if pets, she's busy at home and work.

We asked Shanna: If your pet(s) were sent to jail, what were they arrested for?

Timon (cat) - assault
Ruby (dog) - dangerous driving
Whiskey (dog) - not paying for the buffet
Lola (dog) - theft
Mittens (cat) - drug dealing

Would any of your pets be sent to jail? And if so, what for?

Once technicians get their licenses and start working, many decide that they want to specialize in a specific area. Some examples of specialities are surgery, anesthesia, dermatology, ophthalmology, rehab, behavior, etc. We’re lucky to have a rehab tech on our team. Kara has been at the clinic since 2011. Since then she has become a Registered Veterinary Technician and has now been a rehab tech for the past 7 yrs. Pictured below is Kara running thru some exercises with one of her patients.

Kara’s question:
What’s your pet’s worst personality trait - and why do you still love it?

Ruca (German Shepherd)- clingy. She cannot function away from me but she is my soul dog and she knows I can’t function without her either.

Skyler (German Shepherd)- bossy and extremely loud and feels everyone should know her thoughts at all times. But she is the cuddliest shepherd and such a lover.

Bo (Belgian Malinois)- chaos on steroids. Never slows down is an understatement. But she is loyal to a fault and is very affectionate to those she loves and protects.

These three attended the Stethoscope Ceremony in August to receive their stethoscopes. Jurniee and Allie have started their first year of Veterinary School and Chatney has started her Sophomore year of Veterinary Nursing. Congratulations and have a great school year!
