I work with dogs because I genuinely love them. This isn’t just a job to me. Every dog who walks through my door matters, and I care for them as if they were my own.
Over the years, I’ve celebrated puppies coming in for their very first groom, watched dogs grow from playful youngsters into gray-faced seniors, and held space for families when it’s time to say goodbye. Losing a long-time client to old age hurts in a way that’s hard to explain unless you do this work. It feels like losing one of my own, because these dogs become part of my life and my heart.
Because I love them so deeply, I will always put their comfort and well-being first. Grooming isn’t just about appearance, it’s about how a dog feels while they’re in my care. That means I won’t put a dog through pain or fear for the sake of a haircut. I don’t demat dogs, especially puppies or seniors. I require flea and tick prevention because itchiness, irritation, and discomfort aren’t things I’m willing to overlook. And if a dog is overwhelmed, anxious, or physically unable to continue, I will stop a groom early, every time, because their safety matters more than finishing a service.
For senior dogs, grooming becomes about gentleness and dignity. Comfort grooms are done with patience, understanding, and respect for bodies that have given so much love over the years. They may not leave picture-perfect, but they leave cared for, calm, and comfortable, and that means everything to me.
Grooming is also a partnership. A longer, fluffy coat requires consistent care at home between visits, and I’m always happy to educate and support owners in that. I can only work with the coat condition a dog arrives with, and my decisions are always made with kindness and honesty.
I’m deeply grateful for the clients who trust me with their dogs and who understand that my choices come from a place of love, compassion, and responsibility. This approach may not be the right fit for everyone, and that’s okay. What matters most to me is that every dog who leaves my shop does so feeling safe, respected, and loved.
Thank you for supporting a grooming experience built on heart, empathy, and doing what’s right for the dogs we all cherish.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, I look forward to next year with you all 🩵
