We hope this message finds you well as we look forward to serving you this new year. As always, our goal at Reata is to provide our clients and patients with safe, reliable, high-quality care. To continue this care, it has become necessary to implement the following changes that will begin January 15th, 2026.
First, we will be implementing a processing fee of $20 for outside prescription medication approvals. This includes prescriptions received and fulfilled by providers who are not affiliated with Reata Equine Hospital. Reata remains committed to ensuring that every prescription we approve meets the highest standards of safety and accuracy. This change is necessary due to the increasing amount of time and resources required of our doctors and staff to review patient medical records, verify correct medication strength and dosing, properly document approved prescriptions in patient records, and re-submit requests to prescription fulfillment providers in accordance with current regulatory standards. To avoid this charge, we encourage you to discuss your prescription medication needs with our doctors and explore in-house prescription medication options, including our online pharmacy linked to our website.
Please note:
Prescriptions fulfilled in-clinic or thru Reata’s online pharmacy provider will not incur a fee.
Fees will be applied per individual outside medication prescription processed and approved.
Prescription processing fee payment is required before final approval will be submitted for fulfillment.
Second, over the past few years, veterinary telehealth (via text, email, phone, & social media) has become a very important (and necessary) way for us to stay connected with you and your equines. This allows for a timelier evaluation, medical advice, and medical guidance when an in-person visit isn’t possible or practical. To continue offering this valuable service in a sustainable way, and ensure the same standard of care you receive in person, we will begin charging the following telehealth exam fees:
Initial consultation: $ 65
Follow-up consultation: $35
** A valid veterinarian, client, and patient relationship must be established in person and maintained at least once annually before a telehealth visit may occur**
These fees reflect the professional time, medical expertise, and medical record documentation required during each virtual visit, which is very similar to an in-clinic exam. We understand that every equine and situation is unique and remain committed to helping you choose the best type of appointment for your needs. If you’re unsure if your equine’s concern requires an in-person exam, or can be handled virtually, please allow our team to guide you.
