As we continue moving forward, we want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support. The outpouring of love, donations, and encouragement has been a lifeline as we navigate this incredibly difficult time.
The process of rebuilding has begun, but it is proving to be a long and costly road. New major expenses include:
New Tractor: Estimated at $22,000 even with insurance assistance (The previous tractor, which was nearly paid off, was lost in the fire)
New AC/Heat Unit in Office: $2,400 (Destroyed when the power surged during the fire)
Replacement Shed in Field Next to Barn: $4,701.65
Temporary Tent/Stalls: A significant cost as we expect to rely on a temporary barn for at least a year while rebuilding.
Bedding Storage & Bulk Bedding Loss: Our bedding storage and bulk bedding were lost in the fire. As a result, we are currently relying on bagged bedding, which costs about four times as much as our usual bulk supply. This has added another unexpected financial strain.
The insurance process has been slow and difficult, and it looks like it could be a very long road ahead before we see any resolution. While we are hopeful that it will eventually help with rebuilding, there are many unknowns, and we continue to face immediate financial challenges as we work to restore what was lost.
Despite these hurdles, we have found moments of hope. This week, we started riding again and were able to resume lessons over the weekend, marking a huge step toward normalcy. We plan for our “new normal” to be in full swing by next week.
We are especially grateful to Shannon Bower for generously providing a three-stall barn, which we have already started using. Having a safe space for our horses has been an incredible gift, and we cannot thank her enough.
Staffing has also been a challenge as we remain committed to supporting the emotional well-being of our team. This tragedy has deeply affected everyone, and we are ensuring that staff members who need time and space to process have the support they need. Additionally, meals have been an incredible help during this time. If you would like to contribute, our Meal Train is still active and deeply appreciated:

We remain incredibly grateful for your generosity and support. Please continue to share our story, keep the MHS family in your thoughts, and know that every donation makes a difference in helping us rebuild and heal.
