Since we started our move journey my JuneBug hasn’t been ridden in months. Like 6-8 months!! 😳. Life got so busy and stressed that If I would have put that emotional pressure on her when trying to ride her we wouldn’t have enjoyed our time together. She’s a very sensitive girl and doesn’t read intention well.
Since getting settled in I’ve gone back to basics with her and doing all sorts of ground work. Once I feel she’s at the point of riding and being mentally ready then I’ll jump on and work on the basics under saddle. She’s accepting of a casual walk and jog under saddle (like a pleasure horse jog) but if she isn’t sure of what I’m asking she will get herself all stressed. She also likes to anticipate what I’ll ask. So we are filling gaps in our training and getting her more left brained and thinking things through.
